Job description

Position Location: 2211 Norfolk St, Suite 1000, Houston, TX 77098
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Summary of Duties:
  1. Support the design of assessment programs and remedial options for site cleanup, as well as environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance, and permitting activities.
  2. Scope, coordinate, and perform fieldwork to support environmental assessment, remediation, and restoration projects. Fieldwork may include the collection of groundwater, soil, soil vapor, and surface water samples.
  3. Develop and track project budgets.
  4. Prepare high-quality technical presentations, reports, letters, plans, and proposals with minimal senior GSI staff oversight.
  5. Regularly interact with senior GSI staff, clients, and regulators to communicate project status.
  6. Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and analytical laboratories and independently perform subcontractor oversight.
  7. Manage, analyze, and interpret environmental data using statistical and data visualization tools. Conduct human health risk assessment on a variety of projects using the data collected.
  8. Perform and oversee data entry and QA/QC of data tables, maps, reports, and other work products.
  9. Independently perform research tasks with input from senior staff and technical experts.
  10. Contribute to a team atmosphere through collaboration with technical experts, project managers, colleagues, and subcontractors.

Education requirements: Bachelor's in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related degree or foreign degree equivalent
Experience requirements: 3 years of related work experience in environmental engineering in any occupation where the required experience is gained
Special Skills or Other Requirements:
Telecommuting is permitted, but applicant must work from the worksite location at least 2-3 days per week.
Work experience must include:
  1. Working with state and federal environmental cleanup regulations (e.g., Texas Risk Reduction Program [TRRP], Resource Conservation and Recovery Act [RCRA], and Clean Air Act [CAA]).
  2. Air permitting for Title V facilities. Prepare Annual Emission Inventory and Greenhouse Gas Report.
  3. Vapor intrusion mitigation system design, monitoring and maintenance.
  4. Environmental site investigation and remediation, including multimedia (soil, soil vapor, groundwater, and surface water) sampling, and working with different types of drilling rigs (Geoprobe, Sonic, Hollow Stem Auger, and Air Rotary etc.).
  5. Environmental data analysis and programming. Human health risk analysis.
  6. Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
  7. Project management

License/Certification Requirements:
  1. PE license or eligibility for PE.
  2. 40 hour HAZWOPER course completion certification

Travel requirements: Limited national travel (<15%) is anticipated. International travel is not anticipated.
