The Consultant, Tax Consulting Engineer plays a strategic role in supporting multifamily and commercial development projects through engineering analysis, energy consulting, and tax incentive optimization. This position combines technical expertise with financial strategy to help clients maximize available tax credits, rebates, and sustainability incentives while improving overall project feasibility and long-term building performance.

The role is responsible for analyzing building performance during pre-construction and development phases, conducting energy modeling and energy cost analyses, performing commercial building energy audits, and preparing compliance and certification reports. The Consultant works closely with developers, building owners, public entities, architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities that increase energy efficiency, resiliency, and sustainability while helping projects remain financially viable.
By leveraging engineering as a financial tool, the Consultant provides data-driven recommendations that reduce operational costs, enhance building performance, and support compliance with energy and sustainability programs. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, technical knowledge of commercial building systems, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced consulting environment.
The Consultant, Tax Consulting Engineer contributes directly to delivering innovative, sustainable, and financially beneficial solutions that create long-term value for clients and communities.

Education and Experience:

Four-year Engineering college degree (Mechanical or Electrical) from an accredited institution in practice-relevant area with a minimum GPA of 2.8. Must have excellent organization and time management skills, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn and be a team player.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have beginner's knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver's license required. Preference for candidates who have passed the Fundamental of Engineering Exam (FE).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Requires limited supervisory responsibilities, including training peers and checking work for accuracy and completeness.

Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Occasional long periods of standing while copying.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone.
  • Independent travel requirement: up to 30%
