Job Description: Indoor Color Guard is a club that is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students at Marple Newtown and offers the students a multitude of activities as well as an opportunity to socialize and make lasting friendships.
Effective: 2026-2027 School Year
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events.
  • Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work with students of all ability levels.
  • Education: Valid PA teaching certificate.

Essential Functions:
  • A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members.
  • Advisors work with student leaders to plan events and create opportunities for inclusion.
  • Advisors work with program staff to communicate information, and support and build lasting relationships.
  • Advisors will supervise all club-related events and meetings.
  • Plan, design, and direct all aspects of the indoor color guard program, including developing the show concept, selecting music, and overseeing choreography, equipment work, and overall visual performance.
  • Lead and supervise rehearsals outside the school day, providing instruction in technique, performance quality, and ensemble cohesion, while fostering a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team environment.
  • Coordinate and manage all performances and competitions, including scheduling, registration, transportation logistics, and communication with students, families, and school personnel.
  • Supervise and collaborate with assistant coaches and instructional staff to ensure cohesive instruction and program implementation; oversee equipment, uniforms/costumes, and program resources in alignment with district policies and procedures.
  • Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Administration.

Frequency of meetings: September - June; meet 1/week for an hour; 8-10 events per year
Approximate number of students enrolled: Approximately 40 students
Clearances: In accordance with the school code, Act 24 and All related clearances.
MNSD Supplementary Contract Unit Values 2026-2027
1-2 years experience - $438.00
3, 4, 5 years experience - $475.00
6 years & over experience - $510.00
