Job description

Position Overview:

The Sales Associate is responsible for selling automobiles by understanding customer needs and showcasing vehicle features, capabilities, and benefits. This role requires building relationships with customers, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, and meeting sales targets. The Sales Associate also plays a key role in promoting dealership campaigns, handling objections, and closing sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and demonstrate vehicle characteristics, capabilities, and features to potential buyers.
  • Meet dealership objectives for gross profit, sales volume, and customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain relationships with past and prospective customers, ensuring continued engagement.
  • Conduct vehicle demonstrations, test drives, and explain warranties, financing, and service options.
  • Assist in setting up the showroom and sales lot for promotions and display of new models.
  • Close sales deals by overcoming objections, negotiating pricing, completing sales contracts, and processing payments.
  • Prepare sales reports and provide updates to sales management as required.
  • Continuously update product knowledge by attending training sessions and staying current on industry trends and vehicle offerings.
  • Contribute to the dealership's reputation by taking ownership of special requests and seeking ways to improve customer experiences.

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity for distinguishing numerical and alphabetical sequences.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Physical capacity to perform tasks such as twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Ability to handle physical strain associated with the job.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform data entry.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Dexterity to operate office equipment such as keyboards, calculators, phones, and copy machines.
  • Ability to drive vehicles and move between locations as needed.
  • Flexibility to work long hours depending on store demands.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college education or automotive training preferred.
  • Previous experience in automotive sales or a related field is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and explain vehicle features and technical specifications.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with customers and meet sales objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with office software and equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily conducted on the showroom floor, outdoors on the sales lot, and occasionally at off-site locations for community events.
  • The role requires long periods of standing, walking, and interacting with customers.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of light to moderate loads.
  • Work hours vary depending on dealership needs, with potential for long shifts, weekends, and holidays.
