Job description

Job Title: Pipelayer – Underground Utilities (Heavy Civil)

Location: Palm Beach County, FL (with project work extending to St. Lucie County)
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Role

Our client is a commercial sitework and utility installation company serving Palm Beach and St. Lucie Counties. They are seeking an experienced Pipelayer to join their underground utility crews on active heavy civil projects — including storm drainage, water main, sanitary sewer, and force main installation.

What You'll Do

  • Install storm drainage pipe (RCP, HDPE, corrugated) to grade and spec
  • Install water main including tapping, fittings, and thrust restraint
  • Install sanitary sewer gravity main, laterals, and manhole tie-ins
  • Install force main using PVC, DIP, or HDPE with proper joint restraint/fusion methods
  • Read and follow civil/utility plans, profiles, and grade sheets
  • Set pipe to grade using laser levels, transits, or grade rod/string lines
  • Ensure proper bedding, backfill, and compaction per project specifications
  • Work safely in and around trenches, shoring, and heavy equipment

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of pipelaying experience in heavy civil / underground utility construction
  • Working knowledge of OSHA trench safety and excavation requirements
  • Experience with drainage, water main, sanitary sewer, and force main installation
  • Ability to read utility construction plans and grade sheets
  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred; Competent Person (Trenching) a plus
  • Valid driver's license; CDL a plus
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work as part of a crew

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in trenches, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions
  • Ability to lift/move materials 50+ lbs as needed
  • Willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends as project demands require
