Job description

Position Summary

The Assisted Living Director (LALD) is the designated operational and regulatory leader responsible for the coordination, oversight, and compliance of housing and assisted living services in accordance with Minnesota Statute 144G and all applicable state and federal regulations.

The LALD ensures the health, safety, dignity, and rights of residents while maintaining regulatory compliance, staff leadership, operational performance, and community engagement. This role serves as the primary accountable authority for day-to-day assisted living operations.

Regulatory Authority (MN 144G Compliance Role)

The LALD serves as the licensed director of record and is responsible for:

  • Oversight of assisted living licensure compliance

  • Implementation and enforcement of facility policies

  • Resident service plan oversight

  • Staffing adequacy and training compliance

  • Vulnerable adult reporting and response

  • Infection control and safety programs

  • Emergency preparedness planning

  • Resident rights protections

  • Survey readiness and corrective action management

This role functions as the key liaison with the Minnesota Department of Health, Ombudsman offices, county agencies, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
  • Must obtain Minnesota Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) within one year of employment

  • Experience in assisted living, healthcare, or residential care leadership preferred

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Knowledge of MN Statute 144G regulations

  • Meets physical requirements of the position

  • Must maintain required background study clearance

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred

  • Experience in staff supervision and operational management

Schedule
  • Full-time exempt leadership position

Core ResponsibilitiesResident Care Oversight
  • Ensure delivery of person-centered care aligned with resident service plans

  • Coordinate admissions and discharges in collaboration with nursing staff

  • Ensure care conferences occur at least twice annually or as needed

  • Monitor resident satisfaction and address concerns promptly

  • Protect resident confidentiality and rights

  • Ensure grievance processes are followed and documented

  • Conduct routine resident rounds

  • Oversee activity programming and engagement

  • Ensure safe medication and care practices

  • Ensure environmental safety and chemical security

  • Promote dignity, privacy, and respectful service

Regulatory Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with MN 144G and all applicable rules

Budget & Financial Oversight
  • Participate in annual budget development

  • Monitor monthly financial performance

Building & Environmental Oversight
  • Ensure building cleanliness and maintenance

Staff Leadership
