Our client specializes in commercial roofing, waterproofing, and construction services for a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. They have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality workmanship, exceptional customer service, and long-term partnerships. As the company continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the accounting department and provide financial leadership across the organization.

The Accounting Manager will oversee all accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, manage construction project accounting, and partner with executive leadership to support strategic business decisions. ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations
  • Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including: 
    • Accounts Payable 
    • Accounts Receivable 
    • Payroll 
    • General Ledger 
    • Bank Reconciliations 
    • Fixed Assets 
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes. 
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. 
  • Maintain the integrity of financial records and accounting systems. 
  • Manage cash flow and monitor company financial performance. 
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded. 
Construction Accounting
  • Oversee job cost accounting and project financial reporting. 
  • Review project budgets, labor costs, subcontractor expenses, and profitability. 
  • Manage progress billing, retainage, and project invoicing. 
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure accurate cost tracking. 
  • Prepare and review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules. 
  • Monitor project financial performance and identify potential cost issues. 
  • Assist operations with project forecasting and financial planning. 
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. 
  • Develop executive financial reports and dashboards. 
  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting. 
  • Analyze financial trends and key performance indicators. 
  • Present financial information and recommendations to executive leadership. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. 
Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team. 
  • Establish department goals and performance expectations. 
  • Improve accounting processes and internal efficiencies. 
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management of accounting staff. 
Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. 
  • Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures. 
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax preparation. 
  • Oversee sales tax reporting, insurance audits, and regulatory filings. 
  • Ensure proper documentation and financial record retention. 
  • Monitor compliance with company policies and financial regulations. 
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows through automation and technology. 
  • Optimize accounting processes for greater efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Partner with operations to improve project financial visibility. 
  • Assist with ERP system enhancements and reporting improvements. 
  • Recommend process improvements that support long-term company growth. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • CPA preferred but not required. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting management or leadership experience. 
  • Construction accounting experience is required. 
  • Experience with Foundation Accounting Software is required. 
  • Strong knowledge of: 
    • Job Cost Accounting 
    • Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting 
    • GAAP 
    • Financial Statement Preparation 
    • Budgeting & Forecasting
