Job description

Remote position - Primarily Remote with possible quarterly in-person trainings/events. Must live within 2 hours of Portland, OR.

JOB SUMMARY: 

Perform a variety of accounting duties to ensure accurate and timely financial statements based on generally accepted accounting practices as well as support Property Management staff through a variety of tasks related to accounting software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Bank Reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
  • Tenant Ledger Analysis
  • Review cash receipts for accuracy
  • Report violations of internal control policies
  • Update property budget templates and upload annual budgets into accounting software
  • Review monthly rent charges
  • Weekly bank deposits for funds received in Home Office
  • General Ledger account reconciliation
  • Monthly Journal Entries
  • Monthly Financial Statements
  • Assist PM staff with accounting questions
  • Assist in audit

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Possess a strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles and practices, mathematical, analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of relevant computer programs; Microsoft Office, accounting software and property management software
  •  Good verbal and written communication skills

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in accounting or related field; or equivalent education and experience preferred.
  • Preferred experience in similar setting.

OFFICE EXPERIENCE:  Proficient in MS Office, particularly email, (both the desktop version and web based), word, and excel; Knowledge accounting procedures, excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and prioritize work.  Attention to details and problem-solving skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as emails, financial documents, instructional documents, rental agreements, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
