At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

Joby Aviation is looking for a for a Cook to join our tight-knit team. We operate as a small, collaborative unit where everyone helps out with all tasks, from high-heat grilling and precision prep to ensuring a spotless kitchen. You will be a valued team member helping to provide a great experience for our staff members. A key part of this role involves supporting our team across different sites.

We are currently hiring for two specific shift rotations.

  • Rotation A: Wednesday - Sunday (Off Monday/Tuesday)

  • Rotation B: Friday - Tuesday (Off Wednesday/Thursday)

Daily Hours:

  • Weekdays: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM, Fridays 4:30 AM-1:00 PM

  • Weekends: 4:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Responsibilities
  • Prepare high-quality ingredients (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  • Execute various cooking methods (grilling, baking, boiling)
  • Check ingredient quality and ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before service
  • Maintain a pristine kitchen environment, ensuring all stations are organized, sanitized, and set up for maximum efficiency
  • Manage the proper labeling, rotation, and storage of all food items, strictly adhering to health and safety standards
  • Load/unload dishwashers and hand-wash specialized items (large pots, wooden boards, delicate china)
  • Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately
  • Set up workstations before meal prep begins
  • Safely transport meals to our Watsonville site using a company vehicle, managing the setup, service, and breakdown of remote dining areas

  • Proactively stock snack and beverage stations and maintain a welcoming, clean service area

Required
  • Proven experience as a cook with a deep understanding of various cooking procedures and kitchen equipment
  • A valid CA Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills, you work well under pressure and communicate clearly with teammates
  • Excellent time management skills and the flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • High school diploma or GED

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $23-$30/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
