The Position What Does the Airport Police Department Have to Offer. The anticipated hourly starting rate for the ideal candidate is $29.11 Career Enhancement Program and Incentive Program with increase of pay Specialty Units to include HDS, FTO, Detective, Training Instructor, Canine and Field Force Outstanding benefits that include health, life, dental, vision, deferred compensation plan, shift differential of 5 percent and overtime for working holidays, plus holiday pay Florida Retirement System (2 plans to choose from) College tuition reimbursement 218 hours paid time off to start, with unused leave paid out annually 11 paid holidays and one personal day All uniforms, with free dry cleaning, and equipment provided by agency Take-home vehicle program One-time Florida Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus of up to $5,000*** And much more *** New hires may be eligible for several state benefits under Florida House Bill 3

Terms and eligibility can be found under F.S.S. 445.08. Minimum Qualifications Have or obtain a valid Florida driver's license A High school diploma / General Education Degree (GED) Florida law enforcement certified or currently enrolled in an Equivalency of Training (EOT) Crossover Class Must be at least 19 years of age and a US citizen Must be able to successfully pass a physical exam and psychological assessment prior to employment Must successfully pass a written examination, an oral examination, a drug screening and a thorough police background investigation Must not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor, involving perjury or false statement, nor have received a dishonorable or undesirable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States Must be able to complete Field Training Officer process within first year of employment Key Responsibilities Serve as a uniformed law enforcement representative of the Lee County Port Authority, performing all duties commensurate to this responsibility Prevent criminal activity such as trespass, theft, and other offenses by explaining and enforcing applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and interrogating suspects Respond to passenger and airline disturbances and emergency situations Effect an arrest, forcibly if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints; subdue resisting suspects using maneuvers, weapons, and resort to the use of hands/feet and other approved weapons in self-defense Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, support staff, staff from other departments and other local, state, and federal government agencies Provide formal testimony in court proceedings regarding observations and law enforcement actions Must possess a desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork Work schedule is based on an 84-hour bi-weekly work schedule

Must be available to work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as required Important Notice: A thorough police background investigation will be conducted that will include a psychological profile, and reference checks. All offers of employment will be conditioned on a medical examination and inquiry, including a psychological profile and drug screening. Emergency Response/Recovery Activities: Lee County Port Authority personnel are designated by tier levels and may be called upon to assist with an emergency or unforeseen event at any time.
