Wedding event planners typically earn a median annual salary of around $50,000 to $60,000, though earnings can vary based on experience, location, and the scale of events managed. What are wedding events?

Wedding events refer to the various ceremonies, parties, and gatherings that take place before, during, and after a wedding. These can include engagement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, the wedding ceremony itself, and the wedding reception. Each event serves a unique purpose, such as celebrating the couple, bringing families together, or preparing for the big day. Wedding events are often planned with attention to detail, incorporating themes, traditions, and personal touches to make the celebration memorable.

Work EnvironmentOn-site at venues, coordinating vendors and schedulesOn-site during wedding day, managing timelines and logistics

Common Search & ComparisonWedding EventsWedding Coordinators

Wedding Events and Wedding Coordinators often overlap, but Wedding Events typically refer to the overall planning and execution of the entire wedding celebration, including multiple vendors and activities. Wedding Coordinators focus specifically on managing the wedding day itself, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Both roles require similar credentials and work in the same industry, but their scope and focus differ.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in wedding event planning, and how can they be managed effectively?

One of the most common challenges in wedding event planning is managing last-minute changes, such as guest count adjustments or vendor delays. Professionals in this role often need to stay organized and flexible, maintaining strong communication with clients, vendors, and team members to quickly adapt to shifting circumstances. Building contingency plans and developing strong relationships with trusted vendors can help mitigate unexpected issues. Effective time management and staying calm under pressure are key to ensuring that every detail is executed smoothly on the big day.

What is the 50 30 20 rule for weddings?

The 50/30/20 rule is a budgeting guideline often used in wedding planning, where 50% of the budget is allocated to essentials like venue and catering, 30% to personal touches and extras, and 20% to savings or contingency funds. Wedding planners and coordinators use this rule to help clients manage expenses and prioritize spending effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Wedding Events Coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Wedding Events Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in event planning or hospitality, often supported by a degree in event management or a related field. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and vendor management systems is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills help you build client trust and handle unexpected challenges with grace. These abilities are crucial for delivering seamless, memorable weddings that meet client expectations and run smoothly under pressure.

How do I get a job at a wedding venue?

To get a job at a wedding venue, candidates should have relevant experience in event planning, hospitality, or customer service. Applying directly through the venue’s website or job boards, preparing a tailored resume highlighting relevant skills, and demonstrating flexibility with schedules are common steps. Some roles may require certifications such as food safety or event management training.

What are the jobs at a wedding?

Wedding jobs include roles such as wedding planner, coordinator, photographer, videographer, caterer, DJ or musician, florist, officiant, and venue staff. These professionals handle planning, setup, entertainment, food service, and coordination to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Job description

At Wedgewood Weddings, we believe every couple deserves a celebration that feels effortless, joyful, and unforgettable. Our DJs play a huge role in making that happen. From setting the perfect vibe on the dance floor to guiding guests through key moments of the evening, our DJs help create the energy that turns a wedding into a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We’re looking for outgoing, reliable, and engaging individuals to join our growing team as Wedding DJs / MCs. Previous DJ experience is not required — we provide paid training and coaching. What matters most is your personality, professionalism, and ability to connect with people.

If you love music, enjoy being part of celebrations, and want to help couples have the best day of their lives, this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do

As a Wedding DJ with Wedgewood Weddings, you’ll help create seamless and memorable events by:

  • Hosting and MC’ing weddings and private events

  • Playing music that matches each couple’s style and keeps the celebration going

  • Making announcements and guiding guests through the event timeline

  • Collaborating with venue teams and other vendors to ensure events run smoothly

  • Meeting with couples ahead of their event to understand their vision and preferences

  • Delivering warm, professional hospitality to couples and their guests

  • Traveling to venues throughout the region and arriving prepared for event setup

We hire great personalities first. The ideal candidate is:

  • Outgoing, friendly, and confident speaking to groups

  • Reliable and organized

  • A strong communicator who enjoys working with people

  • Comfortable leading a room and creating a fun atmosphere

  • A team player who works well with venue staff and vendors

  • Passionate about hospitality and celebrations

  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

What We’re Looking For

  • Weekend availability (most weddings take place Friday–Sunday)

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Reliable vehicle with insurance

  • Comfortable speaking on a microphone and engaging with guests

  • Must be able to independently lift 50+ pound audio equipment

Why Choose Us:

  • Paid DJ training — no experience required

  • Flexible part-time hours that are perfect for students and those looking to earn extra cash on nights and weekends. Collaborative culture – thrive in a dynamic environment where teamwork, innovation and client satisfaction are at the heart of everything we do.

  • You’ll love the competitive pay; favorable bonus plan; PTO; paid holidays; sick leave; medical, dental, vision, accident and life insurance; a company funded health reimbursement account; or our 401(k) with company match.

At Wedgewood Weddings, our teams are known for creating welcoming, high-energy celebrations where couples feel completely taken care of. As part of our DJ team, you'll get to be at the center of that experience — helping couples celebrate one of the happiest days of their lives.

If you’re looking for a role that combines music, hospitality, and unforgettable events, we’d love to meet you.

Are you ready to join our team and revolutionize the wedding industry? Come grow with us and make every day a celebration!

The important extras:

  • As is typical in the hospitality industry, this position requires regular availability to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, as well as shifts of more than 8 hours.

  • Wedgewood Weddings provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
