Job Description:
Iowa State Online, a service unit dedicated to supporting marketing and student service efforts of online programs across the university, is currently accepting applications for a website developer II position.
The website developer will leverage the ISU core theme to design, build, deploy, and maintain the site, utilizing a structured staging environment and a continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflow for final reviews and production releases.
The successful candidate will:
  • have a user-centered focus
  • be skilled in organization and time management
  • work independently
  • collaborate in a rapidly changing, team-based environment

Additional information - This position will be on-site and does require a candidate to reside in the state of Iowa before their first day of employment.
Example of Duties:
  • Plays a direct role in programming, maintenance, technical support, documentation, and administration of applications for WordPress website.
  • Conducts monthly updates pushing changes from the staging site to production.
  • Provides technical site maintenance, including website functionality, navigation testing, search engine techniques, link integrity, and other technical web developments.
  • Programs, maintains, and provides technical support of applications using tools compatible with WordPress.
  • Formulates new methods, procedures, and systems to address users' needs.
  • Document development practices and workflows to support continuity and long-term maintainability.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree related to website development, management information systems, computer science, or database administration
  • Strong experience in WordPress development/administration
  • Experience in continuous deployment and monthly updates
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Experience analyzing and resolving issues related to website accessibility
