Job description

At MMGY Origin, our Front End Developers are instrumental in building industry-leading websites and interactive solutions for our clients. Collaborating closely with the Director of Digital Experience, other developers, designers, and account service teams, they play a crucial role in every stage of our interactive projects-from discovery and strategic planning to development, testing, and ongoing maintenance.


Job Details

Job Title: Front End Web Developer (Contract)

Direct Report: Director of Digital Experience

Position: Contract, Project-based

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of front-end development and theming expertise.
  • Proficient in HTML, Advanced CSS, Sass, jQuery, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with front-end animation and UI libraries.
  • Skilled in using Git and Composer.
  • Strong understanding of Atomic Design principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with front-end tooling like Yarn, Node, Gulp, Grunt, Webpack.
  • Knowledge and implementation of accessibility standards (WCAG AA Guidelines).
  • Experience with Docker, Lando, or similar local development environments.
  • Previous experience with Pantheon hosting.

Nice to Haves

  • Understanding of PHP.
  • Experience with Drupal and other CMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with Drupal theming or module development.
  • Experience in continuous integration workflows and related tools.
  • Knowledge of Shopify theming.
  • Experience working directly with clients in ticketing systems to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Creating custom themes for client sites, particularly for Drupal and Shopify platforms.
  • Collaborating with project teams from the start to the end of website builds to ensure all sites meet high quality standards.
  • Innovating in code to push the boundaries of creativity and build best-in-class front-end code for client sites.
  • Working with strategists and the design team to enhance UI/UX in our designs.
  • Integrating accessibility into all code to promote a more inclusive internet.
  • Ensuring all site builds are planned meticulously to maintain industry-leading performance.
  • Responding to service-level client tickets and issues promptly.
  • Conducting detailed Quality Assurance checks on all sites.
  • Recognizing system deficiencies and implementing effective solutions.
  • Developing website documentation and providing CMS training where possible.
  • Participating in creative brainstorm sessions and contributing to new business development pitches and proposals.
  • Contributing to digital strategy on assigned projects.
  • Staying updated with industry trends and innovations in performance, technologies, frameworks, languages, and supplementary services.
  • Participating in Department and staff meetings, initiatives, and inspiration.
  • Supporting supplementary development projects, such as web banners and HTML email templates.
