Job description

Fortinet is seeking a passionate Web Developer to enhance and expand the user experience of our FortiGate firewall's web interface. You'll join a dynamic, high-energy team dedicated to creating compelling and innovative web-based firewall management systems that serve a diverse range of users worldwide. 

As a Fortinet Web Developer, you'll craft intuitive and powerful web-based management interfaces that empower network administrators to secure organizations globally. This role offers an exciting opportunity to dive deep into cutting-edge network security technologies, including firewall configuration, VPN setup, WiFi network management, and Unified Threat Management (Anti-Virus, Intrusion Protection, Web Filter, and Application Control). 

We're looking for someone who is customer-focused and takes pride in creating features that genuinely improve users' daily experiences. You'll have the opportunity to both use and develop tools that streamline development processes, enabling you to concentrate on what you do best-web development. Most importantly, you're excited about learning and experimenting with modern web development technologies in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment. 

Key Responsibilities 
  • Develop and maintain both frontend and backend components of the FortiGate web interface 
  • Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Angular 
  • Configure and maintain Apache HTTP server and develop custom Node.js server solutions 
  • Develop and maintain Node.js/TypeScript services that integrate with system components and expose data or features for the web interface (packet capture, security auditing, etc.) 
  • Design and implement secure communication systems including REST APIs, WebSocket servers, and proprietary protocols for Security Fabric device integration 
  • Optimize system performance and debug complex security and performance issues across the full technology stack 
  • Stay current with cybersecurity trends and modern full-stack development technologies while continuously learning about network security systems 
Required Qualifications 
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, TypeScript and JavaScript for full-stack development 
  • Strong Node.js development experience for server-side and microservices development 
  • Understanding of RESTful API design, development, and WebSocket implementation 
  • Knowledge of C programming language for backend development 
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js 
  • Experience with responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Experience in computer networking, cybersecurity, and network security domains 
  • Experience with Apache web server configuration and management 
  • Experience with secure API development and authentication systems

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $92,000 - $112,000 annually.  Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level.  Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
