Familiarity with frameworks (like React, Angular, or Django), version control systems (Git), and database management (SQL or NoSQL) is typically required. Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities are essential for efficiently building scalable, user-friendly applications and collaborating with diverse teams.

What Does a Full Stack Web Developer Do?

Full stack web developers develop the front end and back end of web applications. Your job duties include building web projects from scratch, testing and debugging software, and maintaining and improving existing web applications. Job description

The Mission

At Total Life, we believe that the later chapters of life should be defined by growth, purpose, and emotional resilience. We are on a mission to revolutionize healthier aging by combating the silent epidemic of mental health issues and anxiety among the elderly. Our work is driven by a deep-seated commitment to making quality, affordable emotional support services easily accessible to a demographic that is too often overlooked in the digital health revolution.

We are a behavioral health company solely dedicated to the 65+ population. Our values are rooted in empathy, evidence-based care, and accessibility. We don't just provide therapy; we empower seniors to redefine their identity, navigate complex health changes, and maintain a high quality of life. When you join Total Life, you aren't just joining a platform-you are joining a movement to ensure that every senior has a partner in their mental health and wellness journey.

We're growing fast, our technology is at the center of everything we do, and we're looking for a Full-Stack Developer who wants their code to actually mean something. You'll work directly alongside product, design, and clinical operations to build the platform that connects seniors with the mental health support they need. Every feature you ship, every performance improvement you make, every API you design - it touches real patients and real outcomes.

What You'll Build

This is a full-stack role with genuine ownership. You won't be maintaining someone else's legacy codebase - you'll be architecting and shipping features that shape how our platform grows.

  • Design and build production-grade applications using a Go backend and modern JavaScript (ES6) frontend
  • Create responsive, mobile-first interfaces in HTML and CSS that are fast, accessible, and elegant across all devices
  • Design scalable APIs and data models in Go and PostgreSQL built for complex, data-heavy clinical workflows
  • Optimize SQL query performance and backend reliability as we scale
  • Collaborate with product and design from early concept through to production launch
  • Contribute to code reviews, technical decision-making, and raising the bar for the whole team
  • Mentor junior developers and help shape engineering culture as we grow

Our Stack

  • Backend: Go, PostgreSQL
  • Frontend: Vanilla JavaScript (ES6), HTML5, CSS3 (Flexbox, Grid, CSS Variables)
  • APIs: HTTP REST
  • Version Control: Git / GitHub
  • Design: Figma
  • Methodology: Agile
  • AI Tools: We actively use LLMs to accelerate development and expect you to as well

Requirements

Who You Are

You have at least 3 years of programming experience and have shipped real products in production - not just side projects. You care about the why behind what you build, not just the how. You're comfortable working across the full stack, you take ownership seriously, and you're the kind of person who makes the people around them better.

Specifically, you bring:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Go and SQL
  • 3+ years building production applications with modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience designing and scaling backend systems in a production environment
  • A strong product mindset and an eye for good user experience
  • Comfort working in an agile, cross-functional team environment
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field - or equivalent experience that proves you can do the job

Nice to have: Experience with Figma, strong design sensibility, or prior work in healthtech or regulated environments.

Benefits

What We Offer

  • Salary: $60,000 - $85,000 CAD, commensurate with experience
  • Equity: Real ownership in a high-growth company
  • Performance Bonus
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Extended health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Paid Time Off
  • Flexible Work: Remote on Fridays + full remote considered for exceptional candidates with occasional Vancouver travel
  • Mission: Work that genuinely matters to the people who need it most
