In this role the Web Program Specialist serves as the primary interface for engaging with university colleges, departments, faculty, and staff who have a digital presence related to Tarleton State University, typically, but not limited to www.tarleton.edu. Working with the manager of web applications, this person is responsible for supporting the overall program health of Tarleton State's web presence. This includes serving as a subject matter expert in digital information architecture (IA), web design, website maintenance, marketing strategy and planning, requirements gathering, project management, web content management including state/federal accessibility standards, and training.
The Web Program Specialist must be a strong communicator, diplomat, problem-solving marketer, with a bias towards action. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA).
In office position located on Tarleton State's main campus in Stephenville, Texas with normal work hours from Monday to Friday; from 8am to 5pm or as work requirements indicate, which may require work beyond normal business hours, weekends, and holidays. Some travel may be required.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Site Launch and Web Update Process Improvement (30%)
โ€ข Manages and refines the web project intake process.
โ€ข Uses the 4P systems model (People, Product (i.e. web pages), Platform (i.e. WordPress or other), and Process) to ensure consistency, quality, and timeliness on web update deliverables (e.g. site launches, site refreshes, content updates, degree launches).
โ€ข Reports on project statuses regularly and adjusts priorities as needed.
โ€ข Holds post-mortem project recap discussions as needed to ensure continuous improvement in stakeholder engagement.
โ€ข Works with executive director of web ops and other MarCom leadership to improve overall marketing operations processes.
โ€ข Maintains website in accordance with marketing and branding program: site design, layout, content, navigation and overall web experience. Manages the webmaster@tarleton.edu inbox adhering to SLAs and ensuring the appropriate level of priority is given to all requests.
โ€ข Coordinates and implements overall strategies relating to site layout, content priorities, and site usability.
โ€ข Develops, implements, and maintains content management systems, search engine optimization, online multimedia and assists with social media integration.
โ€ข Works with Performance Marketing Manager to ensure website is best optimized for paid marketing campaigns.
โ€ข Works with outside vendors as needed on projects when additional web design, web development, and content creation resources may be needed.
MarCom Partner Relationship Management (25%)
โ€ข Meets with university stakeholders to collect requirements for website updates, site launches/refreshes, program changes, degree launches, and/or other digital initiatives.
โ€ข Drives project management of stakeholder digital initiatives from project discovery through stakeholder review and launch.
โ€ข Assists with any Tarleton State web presentations that may be used internally or externally.
โ€ข Consults, trains, coordinates, and mentors university content coordinators/editors on marketing strategies and best practices.
Digital Accessibility (20%)
โ€ข Ensures adherence to web content style guidelines, branding guidelines, accessibility and copyright laws, policies, and procedures.
โ€ข Manages the accessibility standard operating procedure and participates in executing the tasks assigned to Web Operations.
โ€ข Owns process and execution of accessibility audits for public website.
โ€ข Monitors and reports on our accessibility scores, putting a plan in place for continuous improvement.
โ€ข Coordinates responses to Office of Civil Rights (OCR) requests related to accessibility.
โ€ข Helps triage accessibility issues received through our website, working with digital accessibility officers to build and/or help communicate new solutions that improve usability for everyone.
Student Worker Development (15%)
โ€ข Coordinates student worker hiring process (job posting, interview scheduling, orientation dates).
โ€ข Responsible for onboarding student workers (space assignment, equipment, 30-60-90 plan).
โ€ข Manages the work assignments, priorities, and oversees training of any student workers.
โ€ข Maintains student worker calendar and time off reporting.
Marketing Operations Documentation (10%)
โ€ข Builds and maintains library of standard operating procedures (SOPs); maintains knowledge base.
โ€ข Develops training materials and job aides on marketing, web strategy, use of digital tools, and general professional development for internal stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in marketing, computer science, management, or technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
โ€ข Three years demonstrated experience in hands-on marketing account management for partners/clients, or program management; strong preference for product and/or portfolio management at an agency for multiple clients; Experience in website management (i.e. WordPress); Excellent project management, communication, teamwork and diplomacy skills.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
โ€ข Strong problem-solving capabilities
โ€ข Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with changing priorities
โ€ข Familiarity with accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA) and audit tools/plugins (e.g. Siteimprove, WAVE, Lighthouse)
โ€ข Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer network and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $49,000 up to $53,900 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
