Job Description
The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Senior Web Administrator (Web Administrator V) within the Information Technology Services Department of the agency.
Performs highly advanced (seniorlevel) web design and development work with broad impact across the agency's digital presence. This position functions as a senior technical expert responsible for shaping web development practices, defining standards, and addressing the most complex, highrisk, or enterpriseimpact web challenges.
Work involves leading complex web development and integration efforts, planning and coordinating enhancements to web platforms, establishing and refining standards and procedures, and providing expert technical consultation across departments. While this role remains handson, work is typically focused on the most complex development, integration, remediation, and architectural initiatives rather than routine maintenance or content updates.
Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Influences agencywide web practices and longterm digital direction through technical expertise, consultation, and leadership rather than formal supervisory authority.

The Web Administrator V plays a critical role in shaping and sustaining the Texas General Land Office's web presence. Serving as the agency's senior web development and administration expert, this position leads complex web initiatives that support publicfacing services, agency communications, and internal business operations while ensuring a secure, accessible, and reliable digital experience.
This role contributes to the longterm effectiveness of agency web platforms by leading complex development efforts, overseeing integrations, enforcing accessibility and security requirements, and promoting consistent implementation of web standards and best practices. The Web Administrator V partners with agency leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams to translate organizational needs into effective web solutions while supporting modernization efforts and maintaining compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.
Operating as a handson senior contributor, the Web Administrator V serves as a trusted technical authority for web development, platform operations, and digital service delivery. The individual in this role demonstrates sound judgment, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering highquality web solutions that enhance public engagement, support agency programs, and advance the agency's digital strategy.

What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be:
  • Advanced Web Development & Complex Delivery Leads and performs handson implementation of the most complex, highrisk, or agencycritical web work, including major enhancements, remediations, and crossdepartment deliverables.
  • Web Platform Operations & Delivery Oversight Oversees execution of complex web environment operations and integrations, ensuring work performed by self and others meets performance, reliability, and supportability expectations.
  • Accessibility, Security & Compliance Enforcement Reviews implementations, validates compliance, and leads remediation efforts to ensure agency web platforms consistently meet accessibility, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Standards Implementation & Execution Consistency Enforces approved web standards, procedures, and service practices by reviewing work products, identifying gaps, and driving consistent execution across deliverables.
  • Senior Technical Consultation & Delivery Coordination Serves as the senior executionlevel point of contact for departments and partners, translating requirements into feasible, compliant solutions and coordinating delivery efforts.
  • Documentation, Quality Review & Knowledge Transfer Reviews and maintains operational documentation, validates solution readiness, and supports knowledge transfer to ensure sustainable, repeatable delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited fouryear college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems, web development, information technology, computer engineering, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement at a rate of one year of relevant experience for each year of education.
  • Location Requirements: This position is based in Austin, TX. Candidates must be currently located in the Austin area or willing to relocate at their own expense. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Four (4) or more years of professional experience in web administration, website management, or web application support, including maintaining website content, administering web platforms and content management systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring website performance, accessibility, security, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Experience administering and supporting enterprise websites, web applications, and content management systems (CMS) in a complex organizational environment.
  • Demonstrated handson experience managing modern web platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, Sitecore, SharePoint, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining website content, navigation structures, templates, and userfacing functionality across multiple web properties.
  • Experience supporting website modernization initiatives, including platform upgrades, migrations, redesigns, and accessibility improvements.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining web security controls, monitoring processes, and operational support procedures for publicfacing websites and web applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving website performance, availability, compatibility, and user experience issues.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with web accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG requirements.
  • Familiarity with web analytics platforms, search engine optimization (SEO) practices, and digital content governance.
  • Experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related web technologies to support website administration and enhancements.
  • Relevant industry certifications in web administration, content management systems, accessibility, digital experience platforms, or related technologies are preferred.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.
