Summary

The Web Development Manager will serve The Daily Grace Co. as the senior technical leader responsible for overseeing the development, performance, and long-term architecture of our ecommerce ecosystem. This role blends hands-on engineering with strategic leadershipguiding developers, managing complex digital systems, and ensuring that every online experience reflects excellence, stability, and gospel-centered stewardship.

This position combines technical expertise with people leadership. The Web Development Manager will architect scalable solutions, mentor the development team, and collaborate across departments to ensure The Daily Grace Co. delivers a seamless, fast, and engaging experience for customers across all digital platforms.

Job Qualifications

Required

  • 6+ years of professional web development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing or leading developers.
  • Expert proficiency in Shopify (Liquid, Themes, Storefront API, Admin API).
  • Strong understanding of front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), React/Vue, JSON, REST APIs.
  • Experience with back-end frameworks such as Node.js, PHP, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and modern deployment practices.
  • Strong understanding of performance optimization, accessibility standards (WCAG), and responsive design.
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and ecommerce platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of how AI ethically integrates into web development, workflows, and quality assurance.

Preferred Certifications

Job Responsibilities

  1. Technical Leadership & Team Management
    1. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of front-end, back-end, and contract developers.
    2. Conduct regular 1:1s, code reviews, and skill development conversations.
    3. Maintain accountability for code quality, sprint execution, and project timelines.
    4. Establish, refine, and document development workflows, testing standards, and SOPs.
    5. Collaborate with cross-functional teamsincluding Marketing, Product, Operations, and Customer Supportto ensure cohesive digital execution.
  2. Technical Ownership & Architecture
    1. Oversee all development efforts for thedailygraceco.com, digital products, custom apps, and internal tools.
    2. Own technical architecture decisions, ensuring scalability, security, accessibility, and performance.
    3. Manage Shopify theme development, Liquid templates, metafields, and essential API integrations.
    4. Maintain and optimize key platform integrations, including Shopify, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Recharge, and custom apps.
    5. Monitor and improve site speed, Core Web Vitals, and SEO-related technical health.
    6. Troubleshoot complex issues and provide quick, stable resolutions.
    7. Ensure WCAG compliance across all digital experiences.
  3. Project & Roadmap Execution
    1. Translate business objectives and marketing initiatives into clear technical requirements.
    2. Prioritize and maintain a development roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
    3. Oversee the implementation of A/B tests and data-driven website improvements.
    4. Lead the technical execution for all product launches, promotions, and seasonal campaigns.
    5. Work closely with design and marketing teams to deploy UX/UI enhancements.
  4. Strategic Vision & Cross-Department Influence
    1. Serve as a senior technical advisor to the Leadership Team on digital strategy, e-commerce evolution, and technological innovation.
    2. Identify technical opportunities and gaps that can improve customer experience or operational systems.
    3. Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the companys digital infrastructure.
    4. Provide technical insight for marketing campaigns and public-facing digital initiatives.
  5. Mentorship & Team Development
    1. Support the growth of developers through structured feedback, coaching, and skill-building opportunities.
    2. Lead internal workshops or training sessions on best practices in web development, Shopify advancement, and accessibility.
    3. Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration across technical projects.
  6. Research & Continuous Improvement
    1. Stay current on emerging technologies, e-commerce trends, accessibility standards, and best development practices.
    2. Evaluate new tools, frameworks, or platforms that could benefit TDGCs digital ecosystem.
    3. Maintain an understanding of the evolving Shopify development landscape and its implications for TDGC.
