Reports To: Water/WW Pipeline Maintenance SupervisorEmployment Type: Full-TimeJob SummaryDalton Utilities is seeking a motivated candidate for the role of Pipe Mechanic. This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer services in accordance with established policies, standards, and safety procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, maintain, and repair water and sewer lines and related infrastructureConstruct and install water taps, lay pipe, repair leaks, and set fire hydrantsPerform sewer maintenance tasks including installing taps, clearing lines, repairing sewer systems, and raising manholesOperate heavy equipment such as backhoes, mini excavators, dump trucks, and other machineryUtilize tools and equipment including jackhammers, drills, air compressors, demo saws, jetter/vaccon unitsLocate underground utilities and ensure safe excavation practicesAssist with traffic control, including flagging and setting up safety signageLoad and transport materials such as dirt, gravel, and road platesRead and interpret maps for daily job assignments and assist with data inputPerform maintenance on county pumps, including pump changes as neededCollaborate with supervisors, crew leaders, and team members to complete projects efficientlyParticipate in standby/on-call rotation as requiredPerform other related duties as assignedPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry up to 90 poundsAbility to operate heavy equipment and toolsCapability to enter confined spaces and work in various environmental conditionsFrequent bending, climbing, and manual laborAbility to safely wear required protective equipment (respirator, SCBA, harness, etc.)Successful applicant should either currently hold or have the ability to obtain Class A Commercial Drivers license within 6 months of hire date.
