Why We Need You
Apex Underground is seeking a skilled and reliable Pipe Layer to join our team and contribute to the installation of water, sewer, and storm drain systems. As a Pipe Layer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that pipes are installed accurately and in compliance with all safety and quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team to complete projects on time and within specifications.
Your Regular Responsibilities
Install Underground Utility Pipes: Lay and align pipes, such as water, sewer, and storm drain systems, according to plans, specifications, and project requirements.
Excavation and Trenching: Assist in digging and preparing trenches for pipe installation, ensuring proper depth and slope according to project specifications.
Pipe Alignment and Sealing: Check slopes, elevations, and pipe alignment using levels or laser guidance systems. Seal joints between pipes using cement, gaskets, or other sealing methods.
Backfilling and Compacting: Backfill trenches after pipe installation, compact soil, and ensure proper soil density to prevent settling and maintain structural integrity.
Site Cleanup and Maintenance: Keep job sites clean and organized, removing debris and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Assist Equipment Operators: Work closely with heavy equipment operators during excavation and backfilling to ensure proper trench depth and pipe protection.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe job site for yourself and your crew.
Documentation: Record details of pipe installations and document any adjustments or changes to the original plans.

Your Team for Collaboration amp; Support
You will report directly to the Foreman or Crew Lead on-site. Youโ€™ll work closely with equipment operators, laborers, and other crew members to ensure accurate and timely completion of pipe installation projects.

Accurate Installation: Install pipes with precision to meet project specifications and ensure the long-term functionality of water and sewer systems.
Safety and Quality Compliance: Adhere to company and OSHA safety standards to maintain a safe working environment and high-quality installation practices.
Efficiency: Complete projects within designated timelines by working effectively with your team and maintaining focus on project goals.
Team Contribution: Collaborate with crew members to solve challenges in the field and ensure smooth operations throughout the project.
Technical Requirements
2+ years of experience in pipe laying or underground utility installation.
Familiarity with blueprints and site plans, with the ability to interpret them for accurate pipe installation.
Understanding of trench safety and OSHA regulations.
Ability to operate basic trenching equipment and tools used in pipe laying.
Physical ability to lift up to 80lbs, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks. โ€‹
