Job description

General Summary:

  • Sets up and operates Laser/Water Jet to fabricate parts.
  • This position is classified as a safety sensitive position, see Limitations and Disclaimer for additional information.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Programs water jet and lasers.
  • Plan sequence of operations and review blueprints to ensure precision.
  • Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.
  • Set up, maintain and operate laser and water jet.
  • Complete assignments on-time and correctly.
  • Operate Forklift to move materials, load and unload materials with suction cups and cranes.
  • Deburr parts as necessary.
  • Completes manufacturing documentation in a timely manner.
  • Follows all safety guidelines as noted in Safety Manual.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of difference on thicknesses and types of stainless materials.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the use of cutting tools.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to read cut sheets, blueprints, and tape measures.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Computer experience.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
