2nd Shift Supervisor (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)

Position Summary

The Supervisor at Wastebuilt Mt. Sterling, KY location, oversees day-to-day parts picking distribution center operations with a strong focus on safety compliance, building security, KPI performance, time management, inventory control, and workforce scheduling. This role ensures work is performed efficiently and safely, in alignment with company policies, quality standards, and performance expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Safety

  • Responsible for building security during 2nd shift
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements
  • Lead regular safety meetings, audits, and inspections
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices
  • Report, investigate, and document incidents, near misses, and injuries; follow through on corrective actions

Time Management & Productivity

  • Monitor daily operations to meet production goals, KPIs, and deadlines
  • Assign work and balance labor resources to maximize efficiency
  • Understand and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), including how to create, interpret, and track performance measures
  • Support high-volume pick/pack/load operations and multiple-volume shipments to meet daily shipping requirements
  • Reduce downtime by addressing workflow constraints and removing bottlenecks
  • Track attendance, punctuality, and performance; address issues promptly
  • Ensure compliance with company timekeeping and attendance policies

Inventory Control

  • Utilize ERP systems to support inventory transactions, reporting, and operational decision-making
  • Maintain inventory accuracy for parts, materials, and supplies
  • Perform cycle counts and support periodic physical inventories; research and resolve variances
  • Ensure accurate receiving, proper storage, and timely issuing of materials
  • Troubleshot handheld devices used for picking, packing, and inventory transactions; escalate issues as needed
  • Minimize shrinkage, waste, and damage through organization, controls, and accountability

Scheduling & Staffing

  • Review and approve time-off requests; adjust schedules to maintain coverage
  • Supervise and direct a team of up to 15 employees across picking, packing, loading, and related warehouse functions
  • Train, coach, and develop team members to build capability and accountability
  • Support hiring and onboarding; partner with management/HR on corrective and disciplinary actions as needed

Leadership & Communication

  • Lead by example and maintain a positive, professional work environment
  • Make decisions autonomously to maintain workflow, service levels, and safety compliance during assigned shifts
  • Communicate expectations, priorities, and changes clearly to team members
  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and standard work are followed consistently

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial operations
  • Experience in a pick/pack/load distribution environment, including multiple-volume shipments
  • Understanding of KPIs (how to create, interpret, and track key performance indicators)
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices
  • Experience with inventory management systems (ERP/WMS preferred)
  • Ability to troubleshoot handheld scanning devices and basic warehouse technology issues
  • Forklift experience (maintenance and operation) preferred but not required
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make decisions autonomously and prioritize work in a fast-paced distribution environment
  • Experience supervising teams of up to 15 employees
  • Standard schedule is 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM); ability to work overtime as required
  • Proficient with basic computer applications (Excel, scheduling tools, and inventory software)

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work in a warehouse or industrial environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift to 50 lbs. as required
  • Exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures

  • Maintain a safe workplace with minimal or zero recordable incidents
  • Meet or exceed productivity targets and inventory accuracy goals
  • Maintain reliable staffing coverage through effective scheduling and cross-training
