Job description

This regular, full-time position performs a variety of tasks that support the operations of the Laundry Department.ย  Hours for this position are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Load, operate, and unload laundry washers and dryers.ย 
  • Select proper washing formulas and temperature, material being processed and make sure preprogrammed cycles are followed.
  • Remove spots from fabric as needed using the spotting board and required chemicals.
  • Establish workflow priority or follow priority established by management in order to support entire laundry and clothing processing schedules.ย 
  • Re-pad and clean presses as needed and help to maintain clean work area.ย 
  • Sort dirty clothing, put in numerical order, hang clothing or store in designated location.
  • Move boxes, baskets, carts etc. within the building as required and assist in unloading and receiving deliveries to the building.ย 
  • Perform other duties as may be necessary which include but are not limited to Laundry Worker duties when needed.
  • Ability to read and write
  • Must be able to lift from 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Prior washer operation experience preferred.
  • Candidates must be customer service oriented, organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work well with students, coworkers and staff.ย  Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • ย Able to stand, walk, stoop, bend and carry laundry items at least 5 hours per day to perform the responsibilities of a Washroom Operator.
