Hourly Rate: $18.46 - $19.38/hour
Work Days/Hours: Evening and weekend shifts are a regular part of this position, along with some holiday coverage. Shifts may occur any day of the week, Monday through Sunday, between 6 a.m. and 2 a.m.
Position provides customer service, custodial work, and general oversight for events held at department facilities and parks. Incumbent is responsible for opening and closing facilities for events, greeting customers, providing facility tours, monitoring events, enforcing facility rules, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting problems as they arise. Work schedule varies including nights, weekends, and holidays. This position will support multiple Special Use Facilities including the Durham Armory, Spruce Pine Lodge, and the Forest Hills Neighborhood Clubhouse.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Opens, closes, and secures the rental facility as the designated key holder.
- Provides customer service as the staff member on site during use of Special Use Facilities; provides facility tours for potential customers.
- Meets with clients before and during events, attending to their requests as needed.
- Enforces the terms of the renter's contract.
- Monitors adherence to facility rules, assesses repair needs, notifies event security of potential disruptive situations, and determines when a situation warrants contacting the police.
- Handles and reports any issues that may arise before, during, or after an event.Sets up and dismantles tables and chairs for events in a timely manner and according to a set layout.

- Cleans and restocks facilities, checks and replenishes washroom supplies, empties trash cans and disposes of trash in the designated receptacle.
- Sweeps and mops floors, sweeps and vacuums rugs, and spot cleans carpets.
- Maintains grounds by cleaning walks and ramps, raking leaves, weeding beds, removing debris, and collecting litter.
- Keeps basic records such as work logs, accident reports, visitor logs, and inventories.
- Observes safe working practices and maintains storage areas in a safe and tidy condition.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training programs, orientations, and evaluation sessions.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).
- Six (6) months of experience in customer service.
- At least 21 years of age.
