Job description

The Warehouse/Forklift Operator will handle inventory of various types, load/unload trucks, load/unload industrial racking, prepare inventory for shipments (including labeling, stacking, sorting, stretch wrapping, as needed), and other miscellaneous warehouse duties to be assigned by Management or the Warehouse Supervisor.

The Warehouse/Forklift Operator should be dependable by showing up to work on time and being prepared, possess a team attitude by supporting other team members and pay attention to details by following procedures and policies.

Other duties, roles, responsibilities, and projects to be assigned, altered, and/or removed as determined by business need and Management discretion

Safety Functions:

  • Follow all safety, housekeeping, and company policies and procedures
  • Notify management of observed safety violations and/or hazards

Essential Functions:

  • Operates forklift safely and efficiently; conduct forklift inspection at the beginning of shift
  • Reads picking tickets and other shipping documents to determine items needed to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Pulls and prepares orders for shipment by verifying product name, warehouse lot number, manufacturers lot number, weight, and package codes on labels versus the information listed on the picking ticket and bill of lading.
  • Inspect packages for damages prior to shipment.
  • Loads trucks following the loading guidelines.
  • Assists with the process of condensing rows.
  • Assists with the material movement and completes the appropriate forms to record new locations.
  • Maintains forklift and other warehouse equipment by keeping them clean and reporting service as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Unloads deliveries by hand or forklift.
  • Verify accuracy of inbounds by comparing vendor's bill of lading and other documentation with the material that is delivered.
  • Generates the receiving documentation and labels for Inbound material when needed.
  • Assist with the warehouse housekeeping and recycling program.

  • Prevent pellet, flake and powder loss
  • Contain spills
  • Cleanup swiftly and effectively; and
  • Dispose of pellets, flakes and powder appropriately

Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications

  1. Education:
    1. Minimum High School Diploma or GED
    2. Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in similar title and scope of responsibility โ€“ preferred
  2. Pass a drug test and maintain a drug free workplace in accordance with company policy
  3. Valid driverโ€™s license
  4. Experience with inventory control procedures.
  5. Ability to read and understand documents such as pick tickets, bills of lading, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  6. Ability to write routine correspondence and to perform basic arithmetic.
  7. Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  1. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to round to the nearest whole number
  2. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Work Environment / Conditions

The work environment/conditions described herein are representative of those that an incumbent may experience, and therefore must be adaptable to.

  1. Must be comfortable working inside/outside of warehouses in varying temperatures, depending on season
  2. Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
  3. All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Supervisor/HR immediately.

Physical Requirements / Demands:

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time operating forklift
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-55 lbs.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Occasionally required to work in outside working conditions for extended periods of time
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
