Job description

The Warehousing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all warehouses, shipping/receiving, and material handling activities to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate flow of materials that support the production schedule and customer requirements. This role oversees inventory accuracy, material staging, and documentation, leads and develops a team of material handlers, and partners with production, planning, and purchasing to prevent and resolve material shortages or disruptions. The Materials Supervisor drives continuous improvement in material flow, inventory control, and safety while maintaining compliance with company policies and relevant regulations 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and packaging to support the production schedule and customer orders. 
  • Oversee receiving, storage, staging, and distribution of materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and safe work practices. 
  • Lead and develop the materials/warehouse team and drive continuous improvement in material flow and inventory processes.  
  • Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation of discrepancies; ensure inventory meets company and customer requirements. 
  • Coordinate material staging and delivery to production lines to support on time start and completion of production orders 
  • Work with planning, purchasing, and production to resolve material shortages, delays, and quality issues, including corrective actions when materials impact production. 
  • Enforce safety procedures, ensure proper use of material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts), and maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in all material areas. 
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material handling, inventory control, and warehouse operations. 
  • Other duties as required.  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Excellent team player and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.  
  • Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, and/or materials planning, typically 3-5+ years, including prior leadership or supervisory experience. 
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, inventory management methods (cycle counting, Kanban, FIFO), and basic logistics concepts. 
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to collaborate across production, purchasing, and quality. 
  • Familiarity with safety regulations (e.g., OSHA) and lean material flow concepts is often preferred; forklift certification may be required 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  
  • Detail-oriented.  
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
