The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the company's safety strategy across multiple distribution centers, warehouses, and logistics operations within an assigned region. This role partners closely with operations leadership to create a proactive safety culture focused on injury prevention, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive safety program across distribution centers and warehouse operations
  • Build a strong safety culture focused on accountability, ownership, and prevention across assigned locations
  • Partner with Operations, Transportation, and Facility leadership to integrate safety into daily operations
  • Establish company-wide safety standards and best practices for warehouse operations
  • Lead safety initiatives including behavioral-based safety and employee engagement programs
  • Ensure safe material handling, including forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and lifting equipment
  • Develop safety procedures for loading, unloading, picking, packing, and shipping operations
  • Implement warehouse traffic management and pedestrian safety programs
  • Ensure proper storage, stacking, and handling of materials
  • Partner with operations to improve ergonomics and reduce repetitive motion injuries
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations across assigned locations
  • Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and training documentation
  • Conduct facility safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses
  • Track corrective actions and ensure timely resolution
  • Manage contractor and visitor safety requirements
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
  • Track injury trends and develop proactive prevention strategies across locations
  • Manage near-miss reporting and improvement initiatives
  • Support workers' compensation management and return-to-work programs
  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce recordable injuries and lost time incidents
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for warehouse employees, supervisors, and site leaders
  • Lead forklift certification and material handling safety training
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation for warehouse and operations employees
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and ongoing safety communications
  • Establish and support site-level safety committees
  • Track and report key safety metrics including: Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR), Near Miss Reporting, Safety Observations, Training Completion
  • Provide Daily / Weekly / Monthly safety performance updates to leadership
  • Identify trends and recommend improvement initiatives
  • Conduct regular visits to distribution centers and warehouse locations within the assigned region
  • Partner with site leadership on safety improvements, audits, and corrective action follow-up
  • Participate in operational reviews and leadership meetings
  • Support new facility openings, expansions, and operational changes
  • Travel required, with a minimum of 25%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of safety leadership experience in distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety best practices
  • Experience supporting multi-site or regional operations
  • Experience with forklift safety and material handling environments
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to influence and drive cultural change across multiple locations
  • CSP, ASP, or other safety certification preferred
  • Experience in distribution or building materials industry
  • Experience building safety programs across multiple warehouse locations
