Packaging Warehouse Automation Specialist

Location: Cincinnati, Indianapolis or Chicago, IL

Employment Type: Full-Time

Pay: $120-140K plus commissions and bonus of another $15-25K plus a company car and all expenses and benefits.

General Purpose

The Packaging Industrial Automation Specialist is responsible for effectively presenting products and services that address customer needs and provide tailored solutions for automated packaging.

This role assumes full responsibility for an assigned territory to identify new sales opportunities for automated packaging solutions, driving growth in both sales volume and margin beyond forecasted targets.

Essential Functions

  • Business Development & Market Expansion:
    • Perform independent market research and participate in marketing campaigns to promote solutions.
    • Actively search for and prospect potential new clients.
    • Conduct distributor sales meetings, end-user presentations, and live product demonstrations.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors and end-users.
  • Solution Engineering & Collaboration:
    • Accompany sales colleagues on customer site visits to analyze requirements, workflows, and priorities.
    • Collaborate with technical departments to develop initial solution concepts for automated packaging needs.
    • Serve as the functional bridge between technical and commercial teams, including sales, engineering, and the customer.
  • Sales Execution & Project Coordination:
    • Present technical solutions and probability of success to prospective customers.
    • Negotiate offers incorporating technical, commercial, and contractual aspects.
    • Act as Project Coordinator during solution implementation at customer sites.
  • Reporting & Administration:
    • Ensure timely reporting of all sales activities, pipeline updates in the CRM, and monthly expense reports.

Education & Experience

  • Education: Four-year college degree required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong, demonstrated knowledge of material flow, packaging, and warehouse or industrial automation.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications; experience with CRM systems preferred.

    • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and possesses strong professional acumen.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
    • Mechanical aptitude to understand automated machinery and material handling equipment.
  • Physical & Travel Requirements:
    • Location: Must be located in either the Cincinnati, Indianapolis OR Chicago, IL metropolitan areas.
    • Travel: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
    • Physical Ability: Able to lift 40–50 lbs and walk or stand for extended periods when necessary.
