Job description

Position Summary...The Director, Case Manipulation is a senior leader within the Advanced Engineering organization, responsible for developing and scaling case-handling automation capabilities across Walmart's end-to-end supply chain network. This role leads a team of engineers and technical experts focused on advancing robotics and automation technologies that improve operational efficiency, increase network scalability, and enhance the associate work experience. The Director partners closely with supply chain operations, engineering, product, and technology leaders to identify business challenges, evaluate emerging solutions, and drive the successful deployment of production-ready automation capabilities across the enterprise.

  • Define and drive the long-term strategy and capability roadmap for case manipulation automation across Walmart Supply Chain
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and management of a portfolio of automation technologies, vendors, and strategic partners
  • Establish readiness criteria, success metrics, and governance processes to ensure disciplined progression from concept through deployment
  • Own the path from pilot validation to scalable, reliable operational deployment across the network
  • Drive enterprise integration and architectural alignment to ensure automation solutions operate as connected capabilities rather than standalone systems
  • Partner closely with Operations, Automation Engineering, Product, Global Tech, Safety, Reliability Maintenance Operations, and Procurement teams to align priorities and accelerate execution
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of technical leaders and subject matter experts
  • Translate complex technical and operational findings into actionable recommendations for executive leadership
  • Evaluate emerging robotics, AI, and automation technologies to identify opportunities that improve performance, scalability, and operational resilience
  • Ensure solutions deliver measurable business value while improving safety, productivity, and the overall associate experience
