Job description

TITLE: Project Engineer

LOCATION: Onsite in Lithonia, GA

COMP RANGE: $85,000 - $120,000/year plus bonus

Griffith Foods, is hiring a Project Engineer to manage the overall CAPEX process and project outcomes of the plant team from planning through execution. This includes overall control of expenditure within the unit & specific project budget, and capital cash flow forecasting and spending.

As a Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the assigned facility (or facilities).
  • Exercises functional authority over personnel that work on Capital projects, such as Maintenance, Continuous Improvement, and outside contractors; this includes coordinating and negotiating project staffing requirements.
  • Provides integral communication with the broader team to enable planning, troubleshooting, and execution of key initiatives. This includes the preparation and presentation of plans to project stakeholders / Steering Committee depending on the size of each capital initiative.
  • Carries out process improvement initiatives through Capital Projects. Coordinates the launch of manufacturing upgrades including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results, as well as being responsible for project integration into the plant operation.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment, in support of the development of Master Plans for the assigned site(s). Such Master Plans shall be updated at least once a year.
  • Maintains interface with Business Unit and Supply Chain Leadership to provide Capital Plan updates and ensure customer needs are met.
  • Supports standards development/application. Support development/application of ways of working
  • This position is the subject matter expert for Project Management Principles and Early Management and VSU within the assigned site and incorporates its concepts to each initiative. As such, this position owns the VSU roadmap for each project as necessary.
  • Responsible for utilization of Project Management Principles and Early Management Principles.
  • Additionally, this position is the subject matter expert for Maintenance Prevention, Design FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), TT&T (Technology Transfer and Training), FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) and CQV (Commissioning, Qualification and Verification) methodologies.
  • This position assigns and oversees project personnel over each specific phase of the VSU cycle of a project, documenting all aspects of project execution within the VSU framework, such as project deliverable definition, design lock (Integrated Design Brief & Scope) document elaboration, FAT, SAT and CQV checklists elaboration and execution, etc.

The Project Engineer position is well-suited for you if you have:

  • Engineering project management & execution experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Early Management and Vertical Startup Up expertise
  • Supported strategic planning in manufacturing

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in Engineering Project Management
  • Exposure to and familiarity with Auto CAD or a similar drafting system

Candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

  • Previous engineering project management experience at a manufacturing firm or a consulting firm that specializes in manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk to communicate and listen effectively. This will require both office and plant floor environments. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will occasionally need to operate and drive a forklift or electronic pallet jack to transport materials or goods.

Environmental Concerns

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Dust and odor present in environment.
