Job Duties
Virginia State University (VSU), a public and comprehensive 1890 Land Grant institution and historically black college/university (HBCU) founded in 1882, is seeking qualified applicants for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters for the College of Engineering and Technology. Completed applications will undergo a continuous review process, and the department will contact qualified applicants for interviews as needed.

Adjunct-faculty primary responsibilities require them to teach up to 12 credit hours per semester in-person and/or online (both synchronous and asynchronous). VSU Faculty must provide and engage students during regular office hours to meet and promote student engagement and success. At VSU, where Greater Happens Here, we offer 36 undergraduate, 17 graduate, and 2 doctoral degree programs and 8 certificate programs across six academic colleges.)
Adjunct faculty appointments are limited to a one-year contract and will be considered for additional appointments upon review and need of the university and academic disciplines. Academicians with a keen interest in teaching opportunities within another college at VSU are strongly encouraged to apply directly to the respective job postings.
It is also a condition of employment that within thirty (30) days of hire, you are required to submit documentation to the hiring
authority that you have the academic qualifications for the faculty position in which you are hired. Failure to comply with this
documentation requirement and/or misrepresent your professional credentials in any manner may result in revocation of

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in the teaching field or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field.
Proficiency to teach courses in the following areas:
Applied Engineering Technology
Computer Science
Engineering
Physics
Mathematics and Economics
Must demonstrate effective and engaging teaching skills.
Must have the ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population.
Proficiency and willingness to adapt to new and emerging pedagogies in the classroom.
Additional Considerations
Prior teaching experience in a higher education environment is highly preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g., Banner/Blackboard) with an ability to use technology to enhance the teaching and educational experience.
Demonstrated ability to assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
