JOB TITLE: Career Coach 

DEPARTMENT: Employment Services 

SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Director of Employment Services                                                                                                       

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None                                                                                                       

JOB STATUS: Hourly, Non-Exempt 

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm


Summary:

Provide career development and employment support services to students with disabilities through school-based and community partnerships. This role focuses on helping students explore career paths, develop job skills, and achieve meaningful employment outcomes while collaborating with schools, families, and service providers.


Key Responsibilities:

Career Development & Student Support Support students in exploring career interests and developing employment goals Assist with development of internships and work-based learning opportunities Provide Pre-Employment Transition Services in individual and group settings Support skill development, self-determination, and workplace readiness Assist students and families in accessing resources and navigating services

School & Community Collaboration Serve as a primary point of contact within assigned schools Collaborate with school staff, Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), and community partners Support transition planning and participate in case conferences and IEP meetings as needed Maintain strong relationships with students, families, educators, and providers

Program Development & Implementation Assist in implementing Supported Employment and Placement Assistance programs Help identify and implement job accommodations and workplace supports Model best practices in career planning, job development, and workplace training

Advocacy & Coordination Act as a liaison between students, families, VR services, and employment providers Support informed choice and access to appropriate service providers Partner with community organizations to enhance student and family support

Data Collection & Documentation Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including service records and reports Track student progress and outcomes related to employment and transition goals Maintain schedules, time tracking, and required documentation systems

 
Qualifications & Skills:

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule Experience working with students or individuals with disabilities preferred Knowledge of transition services, workforce development, or education systems preferred Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders Strong problem-solving and advocacy skills Proficiency with basic computer systems (e.g., Google Workspace, documentation systems)


Physical & Work Requirements:

Ability to travel locally and within the state as needed Ability to work flexible and non-standard hours based on school and student needs Frequent movement between school, community, and office settings Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance


Certifications & Training Requirements:

CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification 

Certified Restraint Training

Core B certification 

Completion of required agency and regulatory trainings (e.g., Human Rights, Safety, Medication Administration)

Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required and one-year related experience or Bachelor degree in human services. 

Related experience in special education, supported employment, and/or transition service delivery preferred.Â
