Job description

RUN THE SITE LIKE YOU OWN IT. BUILD YOUR LEGACY.

At VPG Construction, we don’t micromanage the field — we empower it. We’re looking for a battle-tested Foreman who can lead complex jobsites with confidence and discipline. You'll be trusted to own the schedule, direct the trades, and deliver high-quality projects on time and on budget.

If you know how to walk onto a jobsite and make order out of chaos, let’s talk.

Why Build at VPG?

  • Full autonomy — Your jobsite is your ship. You run it.
  • Lean and efficient — Direct access to PMs and executives.
  • Real growth — Advance toward Asst. Superintendent or Field Ops leadership.

What You'll Do:

As a Foreman, you serve as the frontline leader responsible for the day-to-day direction of field crews and the safe, efficient execution of construction work at VPG Construction job sites. You will direct subcontractors, coordinate with Superintendents and Project Managers, enforce safety standards, and ensure that work is completed on time, within scope, and at the quality level required. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and hands-on involvement in the field to keep crews productive and projects on track. Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by VPG Construction.

DUTIES/REPSONSIBILITES

  • Direct and oversee daily field crew activities, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and Project Manager to align field execution with project schedule, budget, and scope.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and work orders to assign tasks and set daily production goals for the crew.
  • Monitor crew productivity, material usage, and equipment utilization; report daily manpower and progress to the Superintendent.
  • Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with contract documents, specifications, and applicable codes; identify and correct deficiencies promptly.
  • Coordinate material and equipment needs in advance, communicating requirements to the Superintendent to prevent delays.
  • Document field activities including daily reports, crew timesheets, equipment logs, and any incidents or near-misses.
  • Mentor and develop crew members; provide on-the-job training, constructive feedback, and guidance to promote skill growth and performance.
  • Assist in coordinating subcontractors working within the same area to prevent conflicts and maintain workflow.
  • Participate in project meetings, pre-task planning sessions, and LEAN implementation practices as directed.
  • Immediately report any safety incidents, injuries, property damage, or scope deviations to the Superintendent and complete required documentation.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong working knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and field operations relevant to the assigned trade or scope of work.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to motivate, direct, and hold accountable a crew of subcontractors in a field environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and work orders accurately.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and the ability to enforce a safety-first culture consistently in the field.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with crew members, Superintendents, subcontractors, and owners’ representatives.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize competing tasks, and adapt to changing site conditions and schedules.
  • Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving field issues before they impact production.
  • Basic proficiency with project management tools and reporting platforms (e.g., Procore) preferred.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, composure, and accountability under pressure and in challenging field conditions.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and a thorough understanding of what constitutes acceptable finished work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational/technical training in a relevant trade preferred.
  • 2–4 years of field experience in commercial construction.
  • Demonstrated experience reading construction drawings and specifications and translating them into actionable field direction.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required (or must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Experience supporting Project Managers or Superintendents in daily project execution is a plus.
