Job description

We are looking for a hands-on, execution-oriented Vice President of Engineering to lead our global engineering organization. This is a pivotal leadership role at a high-growth enterprise software company where you will have a direct impact on the evolution of our next-generation cloud-based platform for digitally-delivered life insurance.

The Role

As the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for all product engineering globally, overseeing teams across the USA, India, and Latin America. Reporting directly to the SVP of Product Development, you will lead a multi-level scaled engineering organization, ensuring technical excellence, operational efficiency, and a high-performance culture across diverse geographic regions.

You'll shape and scale our engineering culture as we grow from where we are today into a mature, global organization, building a team that can deliver with consistency, quality, and speed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Global Leadership: Provide strategic and operational leadership for a multi-country engineering organization (USA, LATAM, India), fostering a unified culture across time zones.
  • Organizational Scaling: Design and manage a multi-level management structure, mentoring Directors and Engineering Managers to ensure high-quality delivery at scale.
  • Talent Acquisition & Evaluation: Own and scale our hiring engine, including strategic partnerships with external recruiting partners. Build rigorous systems for evaluating technical depth and cultural fit to ensure we consistently hire top software engineers aligned with our modern development practices.
  • Talent Development & Performance: Build a culture of continuous growth and accountability. Establish clear expectations, performance standards, and career pathways while actively coaching and developing engineering leaders and ICs to raise the overall caliber of the organization.
  • Operational Rigor: Implement and refine CI/CD practices, security standards, and performance monitoring (APM) across all global teams.
  • High-performance Execution: Foster our culture of execution excellence and continuous improvement within product development, including driving our ongoing adoption of AI coding agents for maximum engineering efficiency.
  • Technical Alignment: Drive alignment and consistency across technical leads, architects, Co-CTOs, and product management on technical and architectural topics.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Proven Executive Leadership: 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role (VP or high-level Director), leading multi-layered engineering organizations through growth and change.
  • Remote Scaling Expert: Demonstrated success building and operating high-performing distributed engineering teams. You bring a clear approach to sourcing, vetting, and managing remote talent.
  • Global Management Experience: Deep experience managing engineering hubs in India and Latin America, with an understanding of the cultural and operational nuances of each region.
  • Highly Configured Enterprise Software: Extensive experience building software for large enterprises with an expectation of configuration through professional services and systems integration partners.
  • Technical Depth: A strong foundation in modern SaaS architectures (AWS, TypeScript, React, Distributed Systems). While you aren't coding daily, you can still go deep in architectural reviews.
  • Product & Business Alignment: Demonstrated ability to partner closely with Product and executive stakeholders to translate business goals into clear technical priorities and outcomes.
  • Scaling & Evolution Mindset: Experience leading organizations through periods of growth and transformation, balancing the need for structure with continued iteration and improvement.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence at the executive level and inspire engineers at the individual contributor level.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Our Culture

We are a close group at Sureify, bound together by strong working relationships and a common mission in the industry. The success of our customers is very important to us, and we value merit in the workplace, long-term thinking, and the flourishing of all our employees.

Experience working in a startup or an ability to adapt to a small, rapidly-growing company mindset is required. There is an expectation that you can be agile amidst the fluctuations inherent to a young company establishing itself in the marketplace. Frequently we have to come together as a team and go beyond the responsibility of our roles to ensure success.
