About the role:
The Vice President of Operations in our Floorz studio is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing operational performance across the business, including project execution, field operations, logistics, resource management, as well as quality control and assurance. This leader ensures efficiency, profitability, and exceptional project delivery while partnering closely with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic business initiatives. The role oversees field-facing teams, with a primary focus on project managers and superintendents across the Denver and Colorado Springs markets and surrounding areas. Success in this position comes from strong strategic planning, driving accountability, improving consistency in execution, strengthening General Contractor relationships, effectively managing risk, and empowering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes while minimizing field escalations.
What you'll do:
  • Lead operations from post-win through project closeout, ensuring successful field execution, efficient delivery, and a high-quality finished product.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for field-facing teams, including project managers and superintendents, through coaching, performance management, and alignment to operational standards.
  • Drive pre-construction readiness and field execution planning, ensuring projects are properly staffed, prepared, and executed through cross-functional coordination.
  • Strengthen quality control and assurance practices by improving consistency, establishing operational checkpoints, and reducing punch-list and field escalation issues.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and operational excellence by reinforcing safe work practices, field standards, and compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Partner with internal teams to manage contract execution, operational risk, regulatory compliance, and financial performance, including budgeting, KPI tracking, cost control, and profitability initiatives.
  • Review and negotiate contracts with General Contractors, vendors, and suppliers, while building and maintaining strong relationships with GC partners, trade partners, and key stakeholders to support issue resolution and long-term customer confidence.
  • Oversee workforce planning, subcontractor coordination, and resource deployment across active projects to support workload visibility, job coverage, and execution demands.
  • Lead supply chain and materials logistics, including procurement, inventory management, and job site delivery coordination to ensure efficiency, cost control, and quality standards.
  • Support complex or high-profile installations as needed, helping teams navigate field challenges, maintain execution standards, and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational performance across field execution, project delivery, and resource planning, while building scalable processes that support continued business growth.

Requirements
Who you are:
  • 10+ years of construction operations leadership experience, preferably in commercial construction, field operations, project execution, or construction management environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business administration, operations management, or related field.
  • Proven operational leadership experience (e.g., Senior Project Manager, Executive Project Manager, or similar), with a track record of improving efficiency, reducing costs, and optimizing project delivery.
  • Strong expertise in field execution and full project lifecycle management, including project startup, constructability, QA/QC, execution, and closeout.
  • Solid financial and operational acumen, including project budgets, cost tracking, WIP management, and protecting margin and project performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams, including performance management, feedback, onboarding, and creating accountability across varied field teams.
  • Strong capability to set performance standards and drive accountability, using metrics, targets, and consistent performance evaluation to enable continuous improvement.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills, able to anticipate challenges and align field operations with broader business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to represent the business effectively with General Contractors, trade partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a strong field presence, comfortable working directly on job sites and engaging closely with field teams rather than operating solely from an office.
  • Technical proficiency and operational tools experience, including Microsoft Office, data management systems, ERP or construction management platforms; flooring industry experience, bilingual skills, and Colorado market familiarity are a plus.

Work Environment:
This full-time leadership position is based in Denver, CO and Colorado Springs, CO with coverage across surrounding Colorado areas and occasional project work outside the state.
