Job description

VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

Location: Ogden, UT

Compensation: $200K - $250K

Company Overview

We are a specialized mechanical contractor focused on the design, engineering, fabrication, and integrated delivery of process piping solutions. We serve clients across the water, power, energy, and industrial markets, offering a full-service model that spans estimating, engineering, project management, and shop fabrication. We are recognized as an innovative partner for complex infrastructure projects, with a track record of delivering large-scale outcomes for public and industrial clients across the country.

Your Role:

Reporting directly to the President, the VP of Operations will lead all fabrication operations and build the manufacturing systems, leadership team, processes, and operational disciplines required to scale the business tenfold over the next several years. This is a builder's role โ€” you'll stand up planning and scheduling systems, drive lean manufacturing and digital transformation, lead a major facility transition, and develop a high-performing organization essentially from the ground up. You'll sit on the executive leadership team, working cross-functionally with Engineering, Construction Services, Finance, and Business Development to keep operational execution aligned with the company's growth strategy.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Own manufacturing productivity, labor efficiency, and operational cost performance; develop annual operating and capital budgets
  • Build the operating model, systems, and organizational structure required to scale the business from ~$25M to $250M+ in annual revenue
  • Develop integrated demand and capacity planning capabilities across engineering, procurement, production, and field operations
  • Implement a disciplined, data-driven production planning and finite-capacity scheduling system to improve throughput and on-time delivery
  • Lead implementation and optimization of ERP, MES, and business intelligence platforms, and drive workflow automation across the operation
  • Provide operational leadership through a major facility relocation and expansion, minimizing disruption to production
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, establishing a continuous improvement culture (Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work)
  • Champion a world-class safety culture and drive continuous improvement in quality and first-pass yield
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing operational leadership team

What Youโ€™ll Bring

  • 15-20+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including at least 10 years leading multi-functional manufacturing organizations
  • Background in structural steel fabrication, pipe fabrication, modular construction, or comparable heavy industrial / engineered-to-order manufacturing
  • A demonstrated track record of scaling manufacturing operations through periods of rapid growth
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Experience building demand/capacity planning functions and implementing or optimizing ERP, MES, and scheduling systems
  • Experience leading facility expansions, relocations, consolidations, or greenfield operations
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • Preferred: engineering degree, MBA or advanced business degree, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and/or experience in private-equity-backed or founder-led organizations

Why Join?

  • A true ground-floor opportunity to build a next-generation manufacturing organization, not just run an existing one
  • A seat on the executive leadership team, with direct visibility to the President and Owner
  • Significant, already-committed investment in a new advanced manufacturing campus, automation, and digital technologies
  • A clear growth mandate โ€” scale the business from ~$25M to $250M+ โ€” with the resources and executive backing to do it
  • Long-term vision to expand the platform to a second site, with room to shape that strategy
  • A culture built around teamwork, progressive thinking, and creating value for clients, partners, and each other
