Job description

Job Description:
A regional property and casualty insurance company is seeking a Vice President of Finance. As a key officer of the company, the Vice President of Finance will play a critical role in shaping organizational strategy while leading core financial functions, with a clear succession path to the Chief Financial Officer role. This executive will oversee enterprise risk management, investments and cash management, budgeting, financial modeling, and reinsurance placement, while building innovative capabilities to strengthen forecasting, analytics, and decision-making. Leading a small but impactful team, the Vice President of Finance will serve as both a strategic advisor and hands-on contributor, engaging with stakeholders at every level from the boardroom to frontline staff. The ideal candidate will bring the vision to drive change and innovation, the technical expertise to enhance financial and risk frameworks, and the leadership skills to guide the company into its next phase of growth and stability. This is a retained search.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead and continually advance the ERM program by partnering with leaders across the organization, implementing risk frameworks, and modeling corporate risk to inform governance and strategic decisions.

  • Oversee the company’s investment portfolio and daily cash management to strengthen the balance sheet, grow surplus, maximize yields, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

  • Drive the development of financial forecasts, budgets, and metrics by leveraging data-driven analytics and working closely with the executive team to align financial strategies with organizational goals.

  • Build and lead a financial analysis and data practice, advancing the organization’s use of analytics in financial reporting, risk management, and operational decision making.

  • Manage and develop a small team, serve as a hands-on leader, and prepare to assume the CFO role over the next 18 months while engaging at all levels of the organization, including board visibility.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • Master’s degree and/or CPA designation (preferred)
  • 7+ years of financial management experience

  • 3+ years of leadership experience
