Job description

Position: Senior Accountant Location: Raleigh, NC (Fully onsite) About the Role A well-established industrial construction organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This role owns the month-end close for an affiliate entity and works closely with the Assistant Controller and VP of Finance on financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance. This is not a heavy transactional AP or AR role.

It is a core accounting seat focused on close, journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, and reporting. The ideal candidate brings a blend of public accounting and industry experience, preferably with exposure to the construction industry either through public audit clients or direct industry roles. Familiarity with SOX controls is expected given the parent company structure.

Key Responsibilities Assist in monthly financial statement preparation, including journal entries and general ledger review Perform month-end account reconciliations across assigned general ledger accounts Maintain and update owned and leased fixed asset ledgers Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to the parent company Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reporting for local, state, and parent company requirements Prepare daily deposit of cash receipts Review employee expense reports for proper coding Monitor outstanding receivables and research delayed or overdue payments in coordination with billing, project management, and customers Research financial and tax topics as needed Respond to inquiries from management and the parent company Support coordination of financial statement reviews and audits from both internal and external firms Collect, analyze, and report financial data to support decision-making Organize and maintain financial records and related documentation Qualifications - Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5 years of progressive accounting experience Blend of public accounting and industry experience strongly preferred Construction industry experience preferred, whether from audit clients during public accounting or direct industry roles Strong understanding of GAAP and familiarity with SOX internal controls Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and database management Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently Qualifications - Preferred Active CPA license Experience with construction or project-based accounting systems such as Sage 300 or Timberline Prior experience supporting financial reporting to a parent company Role Highlights Core accounting role with ownership of close for a growing affiliate entity Direct partnership with Assistant Controller and VP of Finance Stable organization backed by a Fortune 500 parent with continued organic and acquisition-driven growth Construction accounting exposure in a collaborative, team-oriented environment Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individualโ€™s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
