Job description

The Youngstown Phantoms are one of the junior hockey's premier USHL franchisees--deeply rooted in the Mahoning Valley and committed to championship-level play, exceptional fan experience, and community impact. We're looking for a business operations executive to lead and grow the revenue engine behind the organization.
The Role
Reporting to the Team President, and working closely with Black Bear Sports Group leadership, the VP of Business Operation owns the full scope of ticket sales, fan experience, broadcasting, digital media, retail, and day-to-day business operations. This is a hands-on executive role with direct revenue accountability.
Core Responsibilities

  • Ticket sales and Revenue
  • Own season memberships, group sales, premium seating, flex plans, and all ticket revenue goals.
  • Team Leadership
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performance sales and operations staff.
  • Broadcasting and Media
  • Oversee all game broadcasts, streaming, away-game coverage, and league media requirements.
  • Game Presentation
  • Direct game-day entertainment, in-game activations, AV production, and the full fan experience.
  • Digital and Retail
  • Lead website, social media, digital engagement, team store, and merchandise operations.
  • Arena and Finance ops
  • Serve as business liaison to the venue, oversee payroll, budgets, and financial reporting.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership in ticket sales or business operations within sports, entertainment, or live events.
  • Proven track record of hitting and exceeding revenue goals while building strong sales cultures.
  • Experience managing budgets, sales, forecasting, and business performance metrics.
  • Strong communicator-- written, verbal, and presentation--with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent director- level experience considered.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and game-day events as required.

Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead business operations at a well-resourced, championship-caliber junior hockey organization with the backing of Black Bear Sports Group. You'll have meaningful autonomy, direct organizational impact, and a chance to shape the fan and community experience for one of the Mahoning Valley's most important sports institutions.
