Job description

Major Functions The County of Volusia is seeking a Marketing Specialist for the Library Services Division. This position is located in Daytona Beach, Florida and will be responsible for professional work researching, developing, and implementing library division-wide marketing and content for the library website and social media for the Volusia County Library Services Division. Illustrative Duties (NOTE: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.) Establishes research methodology and designs format for data gathering such as surveys, opinion polls, or questionnaires. Examines and analyzes statistical data to determine trends, opinions, etc. Serves as account representative to address ongoing marketing programs and public relations programs in the Library Division

Develops strategies to obtain corporate sponsorships and endorsements. Formulates and implements public relation programs and projects. Creates, coordinates and/or produces media materials for programs and special events/projects such as brochures, pamphlets, news releases, posters, etc.

Works with the Community Information to develop cooperative marketing strategies. Prepares related reports for management. Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.

Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances. Responds to emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or related field. Minimum of two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in sales and/or marketing. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must obtain a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of strategic market-oriented planning processes. Knowledge of the techniques and methodology of survey collection and analysis.

Knowledge of skills and responsibilities of a public information office preferred. Knowledge of skills and responsibilities of a print or television news reporter - writing, editing, and on-camera talent. Photography and videography experience is a plus.

Knowledge of skills and responsibilities of a public relations practitioner. Ability to develop marketing and public relations strategies. Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.

Ability to influence clients and sponsors. Ability to analyze data and identify trends and opinions. Develop collateral materials including brochures, advertisements, publications, etc.

Develop marketing plans. Develop place advertising. Develop communication campaigns Oversaw client accounts.

Crisis communication experience. Public presentations. ADA REQUIREMENTS Physical Demands: Ability to see, hear, talk finger dexterity.

Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull 15 pounds (e.g. tables, chairs, pop-up tents), bend, reach, and kneel. Visual acuity (e.g

depth perception, peripheral vision) necessary to operate a motorized vehicle. Environmental Demands: Primarily inside work with occasional exposure to heat, wind, cold, and/or humidity. Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical and professional manuals and journals; reports, summaries, memos and letters.

Ability to perform advanced mathematical functions including statistics and ratios. Analytical ability to devise programs, plans and ideas from statistical information. Ability to speak publicly and extemporaneous; conversant in theories and techniques of discipline.
