** The Senior Director of Volunteer Services oversees all aspects of volunteer engagement at Volunteers of America Colorado, including management of three AmeriCorps programs (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program in Denver and Fort Collins, Foster Grandparents), group and individual volunteer coordination, and corporate volunteer partnerships. This role is responsible for driving volunteer strategy and operations across the state, with a strong emphasis on volunteer retention, corporate group recruitment, and data systems optimization. The Senior Director provides vision and leadership for volunteerism as a strategic lever for mission advancement, community engagement, and organizational growth.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Volunteer Services

· Lead statewide volunteer strategy and implementation, including individual, group, and AmeriCorps volunteers.

· Develop and oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, placement, and recognition systems.

· Manage and improve volunteer data infrastructure, with a focus on Salesforce functionality, tracking, and reporting.

· Ensure compliance with legal, grant, and agency standards across all volunteer and AmeriCorps programs.

· Supervise statewide volunteer data entry and perform quality control within Salesforce.

· Monitor and enhance volunteer retention strategies using feedback loops, impact storytelling, and meaningful recognition.

· Prepare, monitor, and manage budgets related to Volunteer Services and AmeriCorps programs, ensuring responsible stewardship of financial resources.


CORPORATE AND GROUP ENGAGEMENT

· Lead the strategic development of corporate and group volunteer partnerships to advance organizational goals and deepen community investment.

· Design and implement high-impact volunteer experiences that reflect VOA Colorado’s mission, address programmatic needs, and build long-term partner engagement.

· Identify and cultivate corporate relationships that have potential to evolve into broader philanthropic and sponsorship opportunities.

· Align volunteer initiatives with brand, marketing, and development strategies to enhance visibility and community alignment.


STRAGEGIC COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

· Position volunteerism as a core component of VOA Colorado’s brand and community engagement strategy through close collaboration with Advancement and Marketing.

· Co-develop storytelling and content strategies that elevate volunteerism, highlight impact, and attract new supporters across multiple channels.

· Align volunteer communications with broader fundraising and outreach campaigns to ensure consistent, compelling messaging that inspires action.

· Integrate volunteer activation with in-kind giving, donor engagement, and public events to create a seamless and impactful supporter journey


LEADERSHIP

· Provide strategic leadership to the Volunteer Services department, supervising a team of managers who oversee statewide volunteer engagement, AmeriCorps programs, and day-to-day operations.

· Cultivate a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on mission alignment, accountability, and continuous improvement.

· Establish and drive department goals, policies, and procedures that reflect organizational priorities and scale volunteer impact.

· Lead annual budgeting for Volunteer Services and Holidays, ensuring resources are aligned with strategic initiatives and grant requirements.

· Partner with statewide program leaders to identify volunteer needs and co-create meaningful roles that enhance service delivery and client outcomes.

· Represent Volunteer Services across internal committees and strategic planning efforts, advocating for the role of volunteers as core to the organization’s mission and community presence.

· Stay ahead of national trends in volunteerism and service, integrating best practices and representing VOA Colorado in sector networks and conferences.


DATA AND COMPLIANCE

· Provide strategic leadership in the use of Salesforce as the primary volunteer data system, optimizing it for functionality, data integrity, and ease of use across the statewide team.

· Design and manage data processes that generate actionable insights on volunteer engagement, satisfaction, retention, and program outcomes.

· Ensure volunteer data is fully integrated with Advancement and Marketing efforts, supporting cross-departmental initiatives like donor stewardship, impact storytelling, and campaign targeting.

· Oversee compliance with legal, grant, and AmeriCorps requirements, including accurate and timely grant reporting and documentation.

· Develop and maintain Salesforce dashboards and reports to support leadership decision-making and empower team members with real-time data.

· Facilitate staff training on data entry standards and effective use of Salesforce, building team-wide capacity for data-informed strategy.

· Use data trends to evaluate performance, identify growth opportunities, and continuously improve the volunteer experience statewide.


Supervisory Responsibilities

· 7-10 years direct experience in supervision

· Supervises three AmeriCorps program managers, the Group and Individual Volunteer Team Manager, their respective teams, and regional volunteer specialists.


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

· Schedule is a mix between office work and event/project days.

· On event/project days must be able to stand, walk, be on feet for majority of day (up to 10 hours)

· Must be able to lift, carry and move items up to 50 lbs.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

· Full time

· Salary but typically M-F 8:00- 5:00

· Weekends and evenings as needed (approx. 2x a month)


SALARY: $82,000-$95,000 annual exempt

Minimum Qualifications of Position

· Bachelor’s degree in a related area or the equivalent.

· Five years direct experience administration, program design, training, implementation, monitoring and reporting skills.

· Own transportation, valid Colorado driver’s license and proof of insurance.

· Experience with volunteer management required.


Knowledge and Skills

· Strong computer skills required, including word processing, spreadsheet and database management in a Windows environment.

· Salesforce database experience.

· Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Excellent organizational skills.
