Job description

Job Title:                     Chorus Librarian

Department:                Artistic

Reports to:                  Senior Director, Artistic Planning

Status:                         Part-time, Hourly

(Position averages approximately 10 hours per pay period but schedule must be flexible, and workload varies significantly depending on the time of year and whether the chorus is rehearsing, performing or occasionally traveling.)

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in music collating and preparation for distribution as necessary
  • Oversee music distribution at rehearsals
  • Oversee process of rented/borrowed music returns and accounting for each member's music
  • Maintain chorus library
  • Upload music markings and other musical information to the chorus portal on the website as needed
  • Communicate with chorus manager and other staff as needed as to outstanding music owed by members
  • Retrieve music from library and ensure delivery of music to rehearsal and/or performance location(s)Work with chorus manager and other relevant staff to evaluate, develop and maintain music policies and procedures
  • Respond to members' questions regarding music policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with chorus manager and other relevant staff to ensure music is available to singers in a timely manner
  • Respond to external music library inquiries
  • Coordinate with the orchestra library as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Degree in Music strongly preferred
  • Orchestral and/or choral library experience required
  • Must have a positive manner, strong interpersonal skills, and collaborative teamwork style
  • Must possess keen organizational skills
  • Must be a self-starter capable of managing multiple tasks and able to follow them through to completion
  • Should be a clear, concise communicator in writing as well as in public speaking
  • Experience in organizing groups and working with volunteers is desired
  • Able and willing to delegate
  • Able to navigate the electronic music library database, and adequate computer skills
  • Experience with OPAS or other similar software is a plus
