Accountant, Alternative Investment Accounting
POSITION LOCATION
Richmond, VA
This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond, Virginia in-office applicants
*A Hybrid schedule of both Remote and In-Office days is required. In office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with working hours targeting our core business hours of 9am-5pm EST.
YOUR ROLE
As an Investments team member, you'll play a key role in the innovative investment strategies that enable our company and our financial products to serve our customers and their families when they need us most - now and in the future.
What you will be doing
  • Support accurate U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accounting and reporting for the organization's Alternative Assets investment portfolio, supporting large scale projects, developing and maintaining robust internal controls framework
  • Evaluate system outputs to ensure appropriate accounting treatment for our alternative assets portfolio
  • Research and review of accounting guidance to assess existing processes - identifying potential efficiencies and/or gaps in current business processes
  • Perform assigned accounting responsibilities, including account reconciliations, transaction reviews, loan pricing analysis, real estate owned accounting, and journal entry and financial reporting preparation.
  • Partner with the Finance Teams across all product lines and assist in the development and execution of Investment strategies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to create efficiencies and deliver superior business results
  • Support accounting policy implementation and strategic business process redesign efforts
  • Help maintain SOX controls documentation and evaluate deficiency risks through on-going review and validation of key operational processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related discipline
  • CPA is preferred
  • 2-5 years of U.S. GAAP and/or U.S. Statutory accounting and reporting experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across cross-functional groups and communicate complex information clearly
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once and prioritize appropriately
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Skills including MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Copilot)

National Range: $68,900 - $103,000
Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
