Job description

Job Title: TWIN Traffic Reporter

Department: News

Reporting To: Director TWIN Operations

Job Description:

The Audacy NY TWIN Traffic Center is looking for a dynamic and talented professional to work as a Traffic reporter for 1010 WINS and at times WFAN & WCBS-FM. Traffic reporter duties include gathering, writing and updating select traffic stories for broadcast on participating NY Audacy Radio station, not only for on air, but also on Audacy’s social media channels. Deliver live and taped Traffic reports to all participating Audacy radio stations as required. Manage all traffic operations assets from the production, composition and editing of Traffic information used in on-air reports, to the presentation of Traffic info both on-air and also via on-line station social media channels.  Must source both Traffic & Transit info and prepare report coverage for both planned Traffic events as well as unplanned Real-Time Traffic events impacting New York Tri-state area and people’s ability to get around

The anticipated starting salary range for New York-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $40.43/Hr.-$40.43/Hr. 

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and location of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.

What You'll Do:

  • Voice Traffic reports on Audacy stations to air on broadcast and digital platforms
  • Gather, produce, write and edit traffic information, constantly keeping info current and relevant for both planned and non-planned events.
  • Monitor all Traffic gathering data assets (i.e. 511 Traffic Information websites, public agency sources (Transcom, Port Authority, NYDOT), Traffic camera imagery, Public agency/police scanner listening, station tip callers etc.)
  • Post, edit & manage Traffic information to Audacy Social media accounts i.e. Twitter X
  • Provide live reads of Traffic sponsors within designated reports by the company, including certifying on station logs that sponsor copy was read, as well as alerting management of any discrepancies when sponsor copy didn’t air for whatever reason or if there are problems with live read copy.
  • Participate in paid routine air-check coaching sessions (performance evaluation)
  • Other duties as required by management
  • Position offers qualifying AFTRA Benefits and applicant must be willing to join SAG AFTRA

Required & Prefered:

Required:

  • Knowledge of New York Tri-state area Traffic geography
  • Minimum 2-year traffic or news reporting for broadcast media
  • Must be willing to join SAG AFTRA

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Google Workspace, Slack and other online collaboration platforms 
  • Must be able to gather & ready real time incident and other traffic information
  • Must be an experienced story teller for broadcast
  • Knowledge of the broadcast area commuting/local geography and transportation systems are essential
