Job description

The City of Overland Park has a Volunteer Position available at the Sykes/Lady Overland Park Golf Course.
DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Must be able to work a 6-7 hour shift one or two times a week on a rotating basis. Work days will vary week to week. Shift start time will be either 7:00 am for morning shift, and about 1:30 pm for afternoon shift. Afternoon shift times vary throughout the year as sunset times change.
  2. Duties include working as a tee manager including greeting groups, checking receipts, keeping tee times on schedule, and combining and organizing groups that are not full.
  3. Keep in touch with the pro shop as necessary to resolve any issues.
  4. Work as a Player Assistant/Marshal including patrolling the course, monitoring pace of play, enforcing rules, and facilitating the flow of play on the course.
  5. Volunteers are responsible for clearing the course of golfers in the evening.
  6. Volunteers will work with iPads for teeing groups off, recording cart numbers, and recording start times, turn times, and finish times.
  7. Must be at least 18 years of age. Most volunteers in the group are retirees.
  8. Volunteers are provided with a uniform consisting of two golf shirts, jacket, and hat. Uniforms are to be worn only when on duty.

  2. Free range balls are available any time.
  3. Volunteers receive discounts in the snack bar and Club 27 restaurant.
  4. Volunteers receive discounts on merchandise at both course pro shops.
  5. Volunteers receive free coffee and soft drinks while on duty only.
  6. Ability to make tee times 6 days in advance.
  7. Free lessons from one of the club professionals. These lessons will be on a space available basis and will be 10-30 minutes in length.
