Description

CLASSIFICATION TITLE: SEASONAL GOLF SHOP ATTENDANT

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION:

The purpose of this classification is to provide sales and services to customers at the City's golf course pro shop. Employee in this classification handles reservations for the course, clubhouse, and Carney; receives fees for the course, carts, and clubs; prepares bank deposit and balances cash drawer; explains the rules of the golf course and equipment rental/use; and stocks and ensures cleanliness of the golf shop.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Greets customers at pro shop; provides information and professional service; assists patrons with rentals and equipment; explains rules of course, equipment, and the use of equipment
  • Takes reservations for tee times, the clubhouse, and Carney rental; collects payment for greens fees, rentals, and cart storage; collects money for food items and drinks; balances cash drawer; makes bank deposits
  • Sells merchandise in pro shop, including gloves, balls, tees, disc golf, and other golf items
  • Ensures cleanliness and order of pro shop; stocks golf cards and pencils for golfers
  • Ensures rules of course are adhered to; observes whether golfers have their equipment or whether they need to rent; inspects rental equipment upon return; informs golfers of cart path or 90-degree rules; observes the number of golfers on carts; ensures proper spikes or shoes; ensures golfers are sixteen years or older or accompanied by parent; informs parents of child safety on carts.
  • Takes reservations for clubhouse and Carney; prepares contract for rental; explains contract and obtains signatures.
  • Operates a cash register, adding machine, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists golfers in the replacing spikes on golf shoes.
  • Cleans doors and windows at pro shop.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Assists in keeping bathrooms clean. 
  • Assists in the cleaning and set up of clubhouse and carney center for rentals.


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. 

Must be available to work weekend and night shifts.
