POSITION TYPE : Internship (Unpaid)
REPORTS TO : Events Manager
AGENCY/LOCATION : The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester*
*Reliable transportation is necessary, as local travel is required
GENERAL DESCRIPTION/ POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Development & Events Intern will work directly with The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester's (The CAC's) Development team to solicit in-kind gifts, assist with event logistics, volunteer coordination, community outreach opportunities, marketing initiatives, and donor engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to develop skills in nonprofit development, marketing, fundraising, and to learn about The CAC.
This is an unpaid internship with a flexible schedule, lasting from September 2026-December 2026 with the ability to adjust start and end date based on student availability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing & Communications
โ€ข Assist in coordinating social media and marketing campaigns
โ€ข Support email marketing efforts (newsletters, appeals, event promotions)
โ€ข Assist in website updates
โ€ข Assist in designing graphics aligned with The CAC branding
Community Outreach
โ€ข Conduct in-depth research on funding possibilities for fundraising events
โ€ข Represent the agency at community and corporate events
โ€ข Assist with research, planning and implementation of third-party events and community outreach initiatives
Special Events
โ€ข Assist with in-kind coordination
โ€ข Assist with set-up and break-down of events
โ€ข Support volunteer coordination
โ€ข Assist in the preparation and organization of event materials, including signage, dรฉcor, auction items, and other event-related assets
Development
โ€ข Support donor stewardship efforts and communications
โ€ข Conduct research on funding opportunities and support the development of grant proposals
โ€ข Other administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate proficiency in meeting competencies required for the position; and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
โ€ข Currently enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Marketing, Hospitality, Business, Nonprofit Management, or other related field
โ€ข Previous coursework or experience in fundraising, marketing, non-profit management, social services, or community outreach
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
โ€ข Must be comfortable with outreach and follow up to sponsors and community partners (including telephone communications)
โ€ข Be responsible, hard-working, ethical, and committed to the mission of The CAC
โ€ข Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail-oriented
โ€ข Possess solid oral and written communication skills
โ€ข Computer proficient with computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
โ€ข Ability to multitask
โ€ข Interest in a nonprofit career - particularly development and fundraising
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
โ€ข A confidentiality statement must be signed
โ€ข Background check must be cleared
โ€ข Mandated Reporter training must be completed
TIME COMMITMENT :
โ€ข The minimum requirement is 10 weeks for a minimum of 120 hours
โ€ข Hours are flexible within 9am-4pm. range, Monday through Friday
โ€ข Evenings and weekends as needed
