Position: Volunteer & Donor Engagement Associate
Salary Range: $43,000 - $49,000 per year
Reports to: Director of Community & Individual Engagement

Position Overview: LSA Family Health Service is seeking a passionate, organized, and community-oriented Volunteer & Donor Engagement Associate to support our volunteer program, donor relations efforts, and community engagement initiatives. LSA leverages the power of volunteers who help programs thrive, their collective efforts adding up to $1.1 million in revenue annually. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and customer-service oriented individual with a commitment to LSA’s mission and values.
This entry-level position is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit development, fundraising, volunteer management, and community outreach. The Associate will work closely with the Development and Community Engagement team to recruit, coordinate, recognize, and steward volunteers and donors who support LSA's mission of strengthening children, families, seniors, and the East Harlem community.
A Typical Day: Your morning kicks off with greeting and coordinating an enthusiastic group of volunteers as they arrive at our center in East Harlem. By mid-morning, you are reaching out to donors, and preparing personalized thank-you notes to ensure they feel valued. After a quick lunch with your colleagues, you are collaborating with program staff to identify upcoming volunteer opportunities and helping to organize an upcoming community event. Before going home for the day, you are helping to update a database of volunteer and donor records to ensure operations run smoothly.
The Location: This is a full-time in person position at our Center in East Harlem with some travel to other sites in the neighborhood and occasional travel to other sites in New York City for events, training and collaboration with partner organizations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Program Support
- Recruit, screen, and onboard individual, corporate, school, and community volunteers.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules, records, and placements across LSA programs.
- Assist with volunteer orientations, and training.
- Communicate regularly with volunteers and program directors regarding opportunities, events, and program needs.
- Support volunteer recognition and appreciation activities.
- Track volunteer impact and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Donor Relations & Fundraising Support
- Assist with donor acknowledgments, thank-you letters, and stewardship communications.
- Maintain accurate donor records in the donor database.
- Support gift processing, donor tracking, annual appeals, fundraising campaigns and special events.
- Assist in preparing donor reports, mailing lists, and fundraising materials.
- Help coordinate donor cultivation and stewardship events.
- Conduct donor and prospect research as assigned.
- Event & Community Engagement Support
- Assist in planning and executing volunteer, donor, and community events.
- Coordinate event registrations, logistics, and follow-up communications.
- Represent LSA at community outreach events and volunteer fairs.
- Help collect stories, testimonials, and impact information from volunteers and program participants.
- Support social media and communications efforts highlighting volunteer and donor engagement.
- Administrative Support
- Maintain organized records and files.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Assist with data entry and database management.
- Provide general administrative support to the Development and Community Engagement team.
Skills & Experience:
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred
- A strong interest in nonprofit work, fundraising, community engagement, and volunteer management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with databases, CRM systems, or volunteer management software is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
