Summary:
Family Services seeks an entry-level fundraiser with strong attention to detail and customer service to join our team as a Development amp; Donor Engagement Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Development, this position will support annual fundraising initiatives, data entry, and outreach opportunities to build the individual donor pipeline. This position additionally supports annual fundraising events and communications initiatives that advance the division's and agency's strategic priorities, as assigned. The Development amp; Donor Engagement Coordinator is a new role, joining the team during an exciting period of fundraising growth following a $10.8 million capital campaign to build a new emergency domestic violence shelter for the agency.
Essential Functions:
Fundraising and Communications
• Responsible for expanding and overseeing a monthly giving program to include marketing, cultivation, and recognition, ensuring on-file information remains accurate to retain current donors.
• Supports the Director of Development in executing annual fundraising strategies, including direct mail, email, and donor stewardship initiatives as needed.
• Oversees social media content and community management, working to increase online engagement and awareness, contributing to and executing monthly content calendars and campaigns.
• Coordinates in-kind donations, including in-kind donation pages and working with division partners to ensure wish list accuracy.
• Oversees tribute and commemorative gifts, managing donor letters and stewardship as part of annual fundraising initiatives as appropriate.
• Prepare and execute new donor welcome packets and affiliated stewardship mailings to upgrade and retain the annual donor base.
• Take on additional responsibilities or special projects in support of annual fundraising and communications goals as assigned.
Data Entry and Reporting
• Process gifts and maintain accurate donor records through timely data entry, campaign tracking, and online giving form updates.
• Prepare donor acknowledgment letters and maintain templates to support timely, meaningful donor stewardship.
• Serves as the primary source of list generation for the division, utilizing queries and best practices in data cleansing to ensure accuracy.
• Participates in monthly data reconciliation meetings with the finance team to ensure data integrity and accurate gift recording.
• Prepare reports, conduct data analysis, and individual prospect research to identify giving trends, donor interests, and opportunities that support fundraising goals as needed.
• Executes routine database clean-up procedures to ensure data health and accuracy of the donor database as needed.
Community Engagement
• Coordinate with division partners to identify and promote development volunteer opportunities to strengthen donor affinity with the agency as an entry point to annual support and donor retention.
• Provide support for third-party fundraising events, speaking engagements, and tabling initiatives as appropriate.
• May recruit, interview, and manage volunteers and/or interns as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills amp; Abilities:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, membership, sales/marketing, or a related field (annual giving, direct response marketing, or customer/donor relations experience preferred).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Organization, deadline management, and attention to detail are a must.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage time successfully, prioritize work, and maintain confidentiality.
• Adept at using judgment for the agency's best interests, keeping all revenue initiatives mission-forward.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design software.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and campaign management.
• High technical literacy and knowledge with an understanding of fundraising reporting methodologies and analytics or equivalent.
• Eager, with an innate desire to learn and grow in the fundraising industry, open to feedback.
• Ability to foster an inclusive, inquisitive, transparent office culture founded on mutual respect and teamwork.
• A passion for the organization’s mission and understanding of the role philanthropy plays in supporting it.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills amp; Abilities:
• Knowledge of donor database software platforms (Raiser’s Edge NXT).
• Advanced Excel knowledge for reporting and list management.
• Experience in query functionality, data entry, and reporting is preferred.
• Experience in direct mail and digital marketing with an understanding of campaigns and writing content.
• History of event planning and volunteer management.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
• Maintains physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: walking, bending, stretching, lifting, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment.
• Ability to work flexible/overtime hours, including evenings and some weekends, as needed.
• Requires valid NC driver’s license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources.
