Job description

Director of Data Services
Location: Montreal, QC / Hybrid

About Us

Broadsign is a growing software company with a mission to make buying, selling, and delivering out-of-home media easier than ever. Our software is operated by some of the most successful out-of-home businesses and powers impactful, compelling campaigns seen across the world.ย Come join us as a Director of Data Services in Montreal, Quebec !!

About the Role

As the Director of Data Services, you will be the strategic architect of our internal data ecosystem and the guardian of our data engineering standards. Reporting to the SVP of Operations, you will lead a high-performing team of Data Architects and Engineers to ensure our internal stakeholders - from Sales and Finance to Product and Marketing - have the high-fidelity insights they need to scale the business. Your mission is to move beyond "delivering data" to building Internal Data Products. You will transform our raw data assets into an automated, predictive, and cost-efficient engine that serves as the organization's brain. You will also serve as a Technical Center of Excellence, setting the architectural benchmarks for how business data is modeled, managed, and scaled across the entire company.

What to Expect

  • Define and execute the roadmap for our internal data warehouse and BI layer. You will treat our internal data as a "product" where the "customers" are our own departments and leadership.
  • Establish the company-wide "gold standard" for data modeling, infrastructure design, and cloud cost optimization. You will act as a technical consultant for other data-reliant groups, helping them scale their specialized projects while keeping infrastructure overhead low.
  • Proactively identify the drivers of operational performance. You will lead the shift from "what happened" to "what we should do," delivering insights that reduce churn, identify upsell opportunities, and optimize global scaling.
  • Oversee the development of high-value internal tools, such as automated Customer Scorecards for our Technical Account Management team, State of the Industry benchmarks for Marketing, and real-time revenue tracking for Sales & Finance.
  • Act as the "Chief Data Evangelist," raising the "Data IQ" of the organization. You will continue to evolve our internal universal business metrics (The Single Source of Truth), ensuring that both internal reports and external data products are aligned on core data definitions, and empower teams to use our reporting tools for self-service analytics.
  • Identify and operationalize AI use cases that enhance internal productivity while ensuring our data pipelines are optimized for both performance and cost-efficiency.

What you need to perform in this job

  • 8+ years in data leadership, with a proven track record of building internal BI/Data departments in a SaaS or AdTech environment.
  • Familiarity with the Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery) and Google Data Studio. You have a "systems-thinking" mindset-you don't just want a model to work; you want it to be cost-effective, scalable, and performant.
  • A proven ability to take raw operational data and translate it into a compelling "business story" that informs C-suite decisions.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills. You know how to provide technical guidance and infrastructure support to other teams in a way that is collaborative and enabling, rather than restrictive.
  • You can translate technical jargon for non-technical teams and hold your own in strategic discussions with other members of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Familiarity with programmatic media economics or Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising is a strong plus.
  • You are a builder who is bored with the status quo of "request-response" data services and eager to lead an organization toward predictive, high-value data maturity.

What we bring to the table

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Complete company insurance plan (health, dental, vision, travel) effective from day one (100% employer-paid). $500 annual Health Care Savings Account (HCSA) for additional health-related expenses. Unlimited access to virtual healthcare platform (Telus Health).
  • Wellness: $500 annual Wellness fund for mental/physical health and office-related expenses.
  • Paid Time Off: Minimum 3 weeks vacation, 5 floater days, 5 sick/personal days, and 2 volunteer days.
  • Retirement Savings: Group RRSP with a 50% employer matching up to 4% of your salary.
  • Financial Perks: Transportation reimbursement for travel to a Broadsign office.
  • Family Support: Parental leave salary supplement, including a 23-week maternity top-up for mothers.
  • Growth Opportunities: Training & development opportunities with a yearly budget to support professional growth.

At Broadsign, we value the varied social identities that make up our community. We recognize talent comes in different forms and encourage applications that reflect different backgrounds and experiences. Our promise is to be an inclusive employer and partner, open to learning, with thoughtful strategies and practices that amplify the different voices of our industry.
