Job description

Department: Univ Athletics-Volleyball
Salary/Grade: EXS/5
Job Summary:
The Volleyball Video and Analytics Coordinator position is committed to the high performance and success of the Northwestern Women's Volleyball program. This position directs both the technical and technological aspects of the Women's Volleyball program, while providing operational support to the program as needed.
*Willingness and ability to work a non-traditional schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. *
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Utilizing the software provided by the volleyball program in order to translate the objective and subjective physical aspects of performance into data pertinent to the comparative and analytical aspects of the sport of volleyball
  • categorizing and configuring accumulated material in ways that are meaningful and relevant to improved performance for the student-athletes and to heightened strategic thinking for the coaching staff
  • working closely with the coaching staff to analyze and provide accurate and beneficial scouting footage of opponents.
  • potentially training other individuals within the realm of these job responsibilities
  • serving as a primary contact for the program with outside partners in the areas of statistical and creative software/programming
  • directing all practice and match video operations for the program, including but not limited to video recording, video scheduling, coding, as well as monitoring and arranging for video exchange
  • developing an understanding of the video networking systems within Northwestern facilities for the purpose of contributing relevant information and feedback for internal and external production partners
  • Be available for team activities, recruiting functions and other volleyball related activities as needed
  • Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.
  • Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference, CSC and the NCAA.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
  • Demonstrate a high-level mastery of most or all of the following programs/software:
  • Display a strong understanding of the sport of volleyball
  • Possess critical thinking skills, evidenced by a high-level recognition of significant statistical relationships among collected data as it relates to the sport
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills through ability to present and convey - both verbally and visually - the results of analyses in a method that is understandable and relatable to the coaching staff for practical application in both practice and competition settings
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work efficiently on short deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and effectively interact and establish engaging relationships with a wide variety of constituents.
  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to: carrying equipment (up to 30 lbs), standing and sitting for up to 4 hours at a time, plane and bus travel, early and late work hours, up to 4 straight hours in front of a computer screen, walking up and down steps and stadiums
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
  • Ability to work in both the Mac and Windows operations systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, CSC, Big Ten Conference and Northwestern University preferred
Target hiring range for this position will be between $51,500-$55,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
